California, ar rived in New Pine Creok last week to visit with Mrs. Cornmesser's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Rugg. The Cornmesscrs are camping at Bull's Prairie now, but will be back to stay with the Ruggs at their home. On Leave Mr. and Mrs. Neil Perry and three-month-old daugh ter arrived in New Pine Creek Thursday to spend Perry's leave from Camp Roberts. From Renton Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and children, Pamela, Dennis and Gene, Renlon, Wash ington, are visiting at the home of Lee's stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lightlc in New Pine Creek. Lee is a mechanic with Boeing Aircraft In Seattle. They plan on staying in New Pine Creek until July 14. Mr. and Mrs. Carl True accompanied the Lees and are staying at the Lightle home until July II. Holiday week end visitors at the Lightles were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Danforth, Sac-1 ramento. Former Resldent-Don Carter, a former resident of New Pine Creek, visited with friends over the week end. Don, who just finished his service with the Army, has been attending college near Pomona and living with his folks in Southern California. Appendectomy . Mrs. Maude Butler, New Pine Creek, is con vblescing from an appendectomy last week. Haying Pat Passage, who sold his ranch north of Chandler Park on Highway 3!I5 near New Pine Creek last summer to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Griffin of Kugene, is helping Jack Hope put up his hay in New Pine Creek. From Hcrlnng Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hardesty and son. Herlong. Nevada, spent the Fourth of July with Mrs. Golda Addington and son, Waller. They were accompa nied by Mrs. Hardesty's brother, David Gunner. Junior Hardesty is Mrs. Addington's great grandson. New Pine Creek Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith from Washington have rented the Klmer Addington home and will make New Pine Creek their home for an indefinite time. In Ireland Latest word received from Elmer Addington, New Pine Creek, is that he is slill in Ice land, hut will be shipped August 15 to some base in Europe. New Son An eight pound baby boy, Dclbert James, was born last Thursday night to Mr. and Mrs. Horner McClain Jr. of New Pine Creek. Mrs. McClain and the baby returned home from the hospital Monday. To Prlnevllle Mrs. Alpha Hart wig, New Pine Creek, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brickey and son, Dean, Lakeview, to Pnne ville to visit over the Fourth with Mr. and Mrs. Glen McGrew. They tried their luck at fishing at Diamond Lake, but didn't catch any fish. Picnic The Willow Ranch Fire men and Firettes spent the Fourth of July with their families at their picnic ground in Pine Creek Canyon, An early morning break fast started the day of fun. To Medford Mrs. Buna Faris postmaster at New Pine Creek, is attending the state postmasters' meeting in Medford. From Texas Mrs. Ray Darnells and grandchildren, Nancy and Cur tis Jeffords, San Antonio, Texas, visited in Chcmult over the hull days and will remain for part of the summer. Chcmult Mrs. Verne I. Bradcr president of the Oregon National Association of Postmasters, Chap ter 11, is attending th Postmasters Convention at Medford with Mrs Esther Guddatt, postmaster at Crescent. In Germany Pfc. Richard Hen ry Jr., son of Mrs. Lavinia C. Henry. Realty, recently participat ed in an air transportation exer cise conducted by the 8th Infan try Division near Wiesbaden, Ger many. Henry entered the Army in March, 1056, and received basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado. He arrived in Europe in Novem ber, 1956. Physical Fitness-Sgt. Robert E Peterson, 33, whose wife, Sarah, lives in Alturas, recently partici pated in a physical fitness test conducted by the Seventh Army near Baumholder. Germany. Peter son, who has been overseas since October, 1956, is assigned to Mor tar Battery of the 8lh Infantry Division's 12th Infantry. Ho was a salesman for the Alturas Furni ture Company before entering the Army in November, 1955. Promoted Hachiro H. Yama- gata, son of Moria Yamagata, Al turas, recently was promoted to private first class on Okinawa, where he is a member of the Army Quartermaster Group. A clerk with the group, Yamagata entered the Army in August, 1957, and re ceived basic training at Ft. Ord. He arrived on Okinawa in Febru ary. The 20-year-old soldier is a 1957 graduate of Modoc Union High School. Returned F.lliott House has re turned to his home in Langell Val ley after spending several days in Sacramento with his children and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Tom House and children came back with him for a visit. From San Franclsro Mr. and Mrs. Al Bardclla and son, Paul, are in Langell Valley from San Francisco to visit her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frazier. Swimming Lessons will start July 14 at 9 a.m. at Twin Springs swimming pool in Langell Valley. They plan on staying in New Pine Creek as they are trying to sell Mrs. Bene- Held s house. Mrs. Benefield has been painting in the Sequoia Na tional Park, and expects to go to Crater Lake this summer to do some sketching and painting. Ranch The Alta Vista Ranch in Little Shasta, which is operated by Mr. ana Mrs. lorn Lennon, was visited by the owner. Dr. A. N, Johnson Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs A. N.' Johnson, Roseburg. Dr. Johnson, who just completed his internship at the Los Angeles County General Hospital in June, was on his way to continue his medical studies at the University of Chicago under Dr. Dragstedt Dr. Jthnson was accompanied by his wife and infant daughter. New Daughter Susan Renee is the name chosen for the new ad dition to the Bill Gasser family of Merrill. Susan weighed S lbs., 8'4 ozs. when she was born on July 5. She joins four sisters, Jane. Linda, Anita and Nadeine, and one brother, Bobby. Mother and daugh ter are doing fine and returned to their Merrill home on Tuesday. New Residents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Woods and family, formerly of Klamath Falls, are now established in their new home which they re cently purchased from Robert Dra goo. Their new address is 224 North Jefferson, Merrill. From Corvallis Visiting in Mer rill during the holiday weekend were Mrs. Tom Cole and daugh ter, Cathy, from Corvallis. Return ing home with them was the young est Cole daughter, Christy who had been visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Hartlerode, for several weeks. Dog Lost During the Merrill fireworks display held last Fri day evening, a tan Shetland sheep dog belonging to A. K. Felt of Merrill became frightened and ran away from home.
