Her office is grand representative to the state of Oklahoma. She was also initiated as a member of the Grand Cross of Color, an award for service. She will be a senior at Klamath Union High School this fall, is a past worthy adviser of the local Rainbow Assembly. McLaughlin in Portland on May 31. ihe bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Gleason formerly of Klamath Falls now of Seattle. The couple was married in the St. Marys Cathedral with a few friends and relatives present and the reception following was held at Bergs Chalet. After a honeymoon trip along the coast the couple will be at home at 2533 N. W. .Marshall Street, in Portland. Claudette was graduated from Informal Garden Setting For MLC Buffet Luncheon MERRILL An informal garden setting created by many varied and artistically arranged early summer flowers was the back ground for the annual buffet lunch eon sponsored by the Merrill Li brary Club at the Merrill Recrea tion Hall on Wednesday, June 4. Almost 100 club members and guests attended the afternoon event. Mrs. Robert Walker, luncheon chairman, was assisted by com mittees headed by Wanda Shuck, Joanna Shuck, Glenna Walker, Grace Walker, Roma Walker, Anna Hartlerode and Mary Fran Hammond. Presiding at the coffee and tea services were Mrs. M. A. Bow man and Mrs. Harold Hendrick- son. During the afternoon s activities, Local Girl, Junior Assistant Manager Pauline Begg, 20-year-old daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Smylie Begg, recently returned to the family home on Bisbee Street from her studies at the University of California where she is a junior. Newcomers to Klamath Falls, the Beggs moved here from Pied mont, California, a few months ago. A member ot Aipna uni umega sorority and Pi Alpha Sigma, ad vertising honorary, Pauline was appointed assistant manager of the "Blue and Gold," the univer Eulalona Chapter Mrs. John Y. Richardson, chair man of the Newell House project at Champoeg, opened the recent ly restored building for the first time to the board and officers of the Oregon Society, Daughters of the American' Revolution, on Sat urday, June 14, for the regular board meeting. Foster, state chairman of the Eastern Oregon Historic Land marks Committee. A substantial check from Eula lona Chapter for the Newell House fund was presented to the DAR State Board by Mrs. Roenicke. Mrs. Foster reported that the Eastern Landmarks book which she is preparing will be completed by early fall. Mrs. L. H. Stone of Eulalona Chapter was appointed to the new ly created OSDAR Centennial Committee. Other members are Mrs. Howard C. Moore of Eu gene, chairman; Mrs. Jessie P, Stewart and Mrs. Albert H. Pow ers. Mrs. Stone will also serve as chairman of the Centennial Com mittee for the local chapter. Mrs. Claude G. Stotts, of Coos Bay, state regent, announced her official visit to Eulalosa Chapter was set for Septembei 15. She attended the District No. 6 meet ing in Lakeview on June 21. Hughey. Klamath Union High School in 1950 and was awarded the Klamath County Nurses Association schol arship. She entered Good Samari tan Hospital in Portland that fall to start her training and gradu ated in 1953 with Highest Award of Honor from Good Samaritan. She was appointed head' nurse in surgery there in 1956 where she plans to continue on with her work at present. The bridegroom has completed four years in the Coast Guard and three years of college. He plans to enter Northwestern Law Schooi this fall. Mrs. Lucille Gray led group sing ing "Happy Birthday" to Mrs. Ma mie Giacomini who celebrated her 86th birthday on June 6. An amusing style show featuring the latest sack styles was pre sented by 12 members of the Sun flower Bluebird group. Mrs. Bar bara Long, sponsor, was com mentator for the show. The g'rls modeled gowns in the new-look, cleverly made from burlap sacks by the group leader, Mrs. Virginia Haskins, and her assistant, Mrs. Dorothy Kandra. Completing the program was a humorous book review on "Dear Abby" by Kathleen (Mrs. Robert A.) Thompson, delivered in her inimitable style. The program was announced by Mrs. Bert Johnson, president of the club. at UC, Appointed Of "Cal" Year Book sity yearbook, and is active in oth- er campus affairs. Pauline will do camp counseling this summer and plans to return to Berkeley this fall to complete her major in the field of psychol ogy. ENGAGED Joyce Diane Irwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Irwin of 234 North Third Street, this city will exchange wedding vows on July 19 with Donald K. Lindhorst, son of Mrs. E. A. Elson of Redmond, Oregon. SOJOURNERS Officers for the new term were installed at the regular luncheon meeting of Sojourners Club on Wednesday, June 11, in the Pine Grove Room of the Willard Hotel. Installing officer, Mrs. E. A clever and brief outline of the club's history was written and read by Mrs. Vernon Neet. Mrs. George Ashbaugh. retiring president, received a token gift of SHOWER FORT ROCK - Mrs. Owen Pitcher was the honored guest at a baby shower June 5 at The Pop lars Ranch, home of Mrs. Bud Parks. Mrs. Earl Lyman was co hostess. Mrs. Lyman arranged games played by the 22 guests. Each guest listed her prediction as to the baby's date of arrival, weight and sex and suggested a name. Prize winners for games at the party were Mrs. Darrell Ferns, LaPine; Mrs. Nick Klerk, Fort Rock, and Mrs. Mark Ferns, La- Pine, who will be the baby's great- grandmother.
