Syria, now in its fourth month as J the junior province of the United 'J Arab Republic. Public opinion to Jward Americans seems to have changed for the better but the official propaganda against the United States is more violent than ever. i The official Damascus radio commenting on the Lebanese cris is, referred to the United States a few days ago as a "starving won spreading terrorism in our countries, persecuting our peo ple and seeking to undermine' their legitimate national aspira tions." i The fury of the attack had not been matched even during the JS.vrian-Turkish crisis six months! go- i :( But the public in Damascus, Al tppo and other principal cities dis plays a distinctly more cordial at titude toward Americans and a pronounced relaxation in personal contracts.
