Tuesday night, May 20, 17 of the girls were pre sented to the association in rec ognition of their accomplishments In the "Forward Steps," program Pastor Plans Last Sermon MALIN Sunday, May 25, marks the last Sunday W. Winnficld Stevens, intern pastor, leads the congregation of Community Pres byterian Church in worship. Stevens concludes his year's in ternship at the church when he preaches during the 11 a.m. serv ice. His sermon "The Way is With Prayer" climaxes his four sermon series based on .Jesus' farewell ad dresses to his disciples. Families are urged to worship together at Stevens' final service. Neither child care for preschool ers nor crafts for primary stu dents will bo held during worship. Singing the morning's anthem will be the Westminster choir com posed of members of the church's youth group. Stevens held his first service at Malin Presbyterian Church Whit sunday, June 9, 1957. He concludes his ministry there on Whitsunday which falls on May 25 this year. The intern pastor is a middler student at San Francisco Theoiogi' cal Seminary, San Anselmo. He re turns to his studies starting with summer session June 15. He plans another three years at the semi nary before earning the bachelor of divinity degree. After complct ing his B.D., Stevens will be or dained a minister of the Gospel in the Presbyterian denomination. The Stevens family has set Tues day, May 27, as their departure date. They will drive directly to San Anselmo where they will live on the seminary's campus. Friday night, the girls will be honored at a Mother-Daughter banquet, which will be held in the social hall of the First Baptist Church at 6:30. The associational WMU officers are planning for the meal and the program. Mrs. Joe Dunson, the Girl's Auxiliary director of the as sociation, is serving as chairman. During the convention-wide GA Focus Week, May 12-16. many of the 31.000 churches of the Southern Baptist Convention have honored the members of the Girls' Auxil iary. According to the latest avail able figures there are some 24.587 organizations and 230,119 members of the AG's in the 25 states report ing to the Southern Baptist Con tention. The uin s Auxiliary was oinciai ly organized in 1913, after several years of steady growth to a point where the organization reached convention-wide recognition. The primary purpose of the GA s is that of missionary education, in forming the girls of the many churches of the need for Christian missions, extending from the local church and embracing the entire world. Because of other special meet ings in progress, the GA Focus Week was held locally during the week of May 19-23. The Presenta tion Service on Tuesday night, May 20. and the Mother-Daughter Ban quet Friday have been the high lights of a busy week of activity lor the girls who are members of the local Girl's Auxiliaries.
