of the Girl's Auxiliary. Friday
night, the girls will be honored at
a Mother-Daughter banquet, which
will be held in the social hall of the
First Baptist Church at 6:30.
The associational WMU officers
are planning for the meal and the
program. Mrs. Joe Dunson, the
Girl's Auxiliary director of the as
sociation, is serving as chairman.
During the convention-wide GA
Focus Week, May 12-16. many of
the 31.000 churches of the Southern
Baptist Convention have honored
the members of the Girls' Auxil
iary. According to the latest avail
able figures there are some 24.587
organizations and 230,119 members
of the AG's in the 25 states report
ing to the Southern Baptist Con
tention.
The uin s Auxiliary was oinciai
ly organized in 1913, after several
years of steady growth to a point
where the organization reached
convention-wide recognition. The
primary purpose of the GA s is
that of missionary education, in
forming the girls of the many
churches of the need for Christian
missions, extending from the local
church and embracing the entire
world.
Because of other special meet
ings in progress, the GA Focus
Week was held locally during the
week of May 19-23. The Presenta
tion Service on Tuesday night, May
20. and the Mother-Daughter Ban
quet Friday have been the high
lights of a busy week of activity
lor the girls who are members
of the local Girl's Auxiliaries.
The program at the banquet will
include a poem by the GA's from
Dorris, California, a skit by the
GA's from the Calvary Baptist
Church, special music by the Stew
art Lenox Baptist Church GA's.
and the devotional by the GA's of
the First Baptist Church.
