Thieves Discard Shoe Samples LOUISVILLE, Ky. tm - Thieves stole salesman Bill Meller's samples again. But, as in the past, he had little trouble getting them bark. Meller sells shoes. His samples are nearly -200 new shoes all for the left foot. For the third time in eight years, thieves stole shoes Fri day, then discarded them op- parently in disgust. Grange Slates Safety Essay Mavme Cammock, lecturer of the Midland Grange, has announced that a highway safety essay con test sponsored by the National Grange and the Automotive Safety Foundation,1 is open to all grange members under 18. The national winner, she said, will receive a $100 savings bond and an all-expenso paid trip to the annual convention of the national grange to be held in Grand Rap ids. Michigan. November 10 to 19. She added that there will also he local, state and regional awards. Each contestant will submit an essay of not more than 700 words on the subject "Community Or ganizations for Highway Safety." The deadline for submitting en tries is May 1. The making of a Mother's Day project constituted the activity of the entire meeting of Girl Scout Troop 37 on Feb ruary 2fi. Plans for the troop s participation in the county-wide Smuaree to be held in Mount Shasta on March 15 were com pleted and a review of songs will be held at this week's meeting. A total of 50 favors were made by members of Brownie Troop 82 at the Kehruary 'in meeting which will be used at the musical show to be presented by the troop for the third grade girls and teach ers of Weed Union Elementary School.
