This is Lilly Daehe's message to the public who already know her as bee-conseious, since it was she who made the Queen Bee's food, royal jelly, a part of America's beauty regime. The newest Dache millinery col lection, shown to the visiting press at Press Week as part of the glamour expert's bcauly and fash ion presentation makes a major point of the four high-rising types of hat, all placed well back on the head and otten slit at the front to show bangs or a smooth "drape"! of hair. This feather-light number is from the Lilly Dache Spring 1958 millinery collection. Note the absence of makes' up and the nearly straight hair framing the -face. Braided horsehair is lightly shaped into big rolled bretons with long childish streamers down the back, and other bretons are made of shiny thin straw cloth that looks like satin but weighs nothing at all. The 1958 Dache breton Is a dis tinct new shape, a forward-and back oval with little side width, a high crown and a sharp upsweep to the brim. Toll House Cookies were the result of an in genious experiment on the part of Ruth Wakefield, proprietress of the Toll House Inn at Whitman, Mas sachusetts. She chopped up Nestle's Semi Sweet Chocolate Bars for use in her favorite cookie recipe and found she had discovered some thing completely new a cookie with whole pieces of chocolate which did not melt during baking. CnOCOLATE There are rules for using semi- sweet chocolate in cooking and most of them are based on the fact that chocolate dislikes high temperature. Chocolate, when cooked at too high a temperature, burns and scorches easily. If heat ed too fast, it may not melt smoothly. Chocolate has a rich content of cocoa butter and should, therefore, be stored in a cool dry place at a temperature of not over 78 de grees. If the temperature rises a few degrees above, the cocoa but ter will begin to melt and rise to the surface of the chocolate as shiny coating. As the chocolate cools again, the cocoa butter turns dull giving the chocolate what is known as "bloom." This does not affect the flavor of choco late, but "bloom" dulls the rich brown true chocolate color.
