Dr. Hunt is editor their annual talent show in the hish school auditorium, Saturday, March 8, at 8 p.m. Entry blanks with the contest rules, may be obtained at the Dorris City Hall or at the high school. Deadline for submitting entries is March 5. Shaitlna Volunteer Fire De nartment has set Saturday night, .March 22,' as the date for the sixth annual Firemen's Ball to be held in the Weed Hippodrome. Music will be furnished by the Hottentots Orchestra with danc ing from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Dy- sart Scribner is chairman for the ball. Ham Dinner The men of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, thil- oquin, will hold their annual ham dinner in the church basement on Sunday, February 16, with serv ing starting at 5:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $1.50 and children 75 cents-. Weed BPW will observe its fourth birthday anniversary on February 20 at the Fawn Club with members of the Mount Shas ta BPW as guests. T Sale Mr. and Mrs. Er nest Bobnett, New Pine Creek, accompanied Will Vernon to the bull sale at Red Bluff last week end, leaving on Tuesday so they could visit relatives on their way. Evangelist Dr. C. E. To Paisley Mrs. Buna Faris and her mother, Mrs. Alpha Hart zog. were in Paisley Monday eve ning to attend the local PTA meeting. Crescent Community Club sponsored a March of Dimes dance Saturday evening with the proceeds of $30 turned over to the polio fund. Yreka BPW Holds Benefit YREKA The Yreka Business and Professional Women's Club sponsored a benefit program to raise tunas lor me American Field Service which was held in the Melody Room of the Yreka Inn on February 13. The program featured slides ta ken by Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Young on their three month trip to Europe. Several foreign aid students have been guests in different homes in Yreka since 1955 when the Yreka Rotary Club sponsored the first one through the Ameri can Field Service. This years student is Marja-Leena Raatikain en of Finland, who is the house- guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Everett Barr. Yreka. Dr. and Mrs. Young felt that in sharing their European trip through pictures they will arouse an interest in the American Field Service -and interested persons will tish to help promote its con tinuance in Yreka. Members of the BPW commit tee who were in charge of Thurs day evening's program were Mrs. . Ray Kelly, Mrs. Kenneth Young, Mrs. R. D. Baumbach and Mrs. L. B. Waters, i Luncheon The WSCS of the Mount Shasta Methodist Church will serve a 50 cents a plate luncheon on Tuesday, February 13. at 12:30 in the church base ment. This will be followed by a one act play given by the Ruth Circle which will be directed by Mrs. A. B. Cooper. Rainfall Frank M. Asbell. U.S. Weather forecaster for Mount Shasta, stated Monday that the eight inches of rain which fell last week had pushed the season al rainfall to 34 inches. This is two inches above normal for the period to June 30. Weed Ladies of the Weed Lions Club were entertained last week at the annual February la dies night held at the Fawn Club with a dinner, program and danc ing. Glen Van Dyke made the arrangements for the ladies night and Dr. H. L. Vidricksen. presi dent of the Lions, presided. Art Association Members of the Siskiyou Art Association dis played variety of water colors and oils at a recent meeting of the group held at the Yreka Inn, Yreka. Candidate Estelle lsaaces. who was unanimously appointed to the office of county tax collector-treasurer by the Siskiyou Coun ty Board of Supervisors in No vember, 1956, has announced her candidacy for that office in the forthcoming elections. Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Jack Arrington, formerly of Yreka, and now residents of San Rafael were recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Meek. Yreka.
