Mercer, lo cal representative of West Coast Life Insurance, told representatives of Klamath Falls business firms Monday evening. Mercer was guest speaker at the 24th annual banquet of Merchants Credit Service, Inc., at the Willard Hotel. One hundred and fourteen members and guests attended. In discussing how credit affects a community. Mercer stated that during the war there was more money in circulation than there were services and goods available. . Deal Continues Revival Talks The Rev. William S. Deal, Sa lem, Northwest district superinten dent of Pilgrim Holiness churches, will continue nightly revival meet ings at the local Pilgrim Holiness Church, . 2301 Wantland Avenue, during the remainder of this week. Tonight the subject will be fam ily night. Rev. Deal will present a 10 - point recipe for happiness. Thursday night he will speak to the young people at a service dedi cated to youth, drawing upon his many years of experience in that field for his sermon. Friday night is Friendship Night. The member of the audience tak ing the largest number of friends to the service will win an award. The series will conclude Sunday niaht. Rev. Deal is an author with a record of 10 published books. His current book. The Christian's Daily Guide, is to be released by the Baker Book House. The pastor also writes numerous columns for reli gious publications. Harold L, Barnum. police chief, heads this year's party arrangements and is encouraging parents to attend their children's parties. Parties for designated age groups will be held in seven separate halls. beginning at 7 p.m., and include Sons of Italy Hall for preschool and kindergarten children; Court Club, first grade: White Pine Hall, second grade; Weed Hippodrome, third and fourth grades; Weed Community Church, fifth grade; multipurpose room of the elemen tary school, sixth grade; elemen tary auditorium, seventh and eighth grades, and St. Michaels Hall, high school students. HOPE'S LEG INJURED HOLLYWOOD tfi Comedian Bob Hope is scheduled to have an A-ray made today of his right leg, injured Sunday in Dallas, Tex. by a golf ball hit by Dizzy Dean during a charity match. At that time, bond -drives were initiated to syphon off that extra money into a form of savings so tnat consumers would not consis tently bid against eact other for scarce items and causu inflation. 'When 'hard money policies were put into effect in 1951, 1952 and 1953, many persons expected nardtimes' to result. . However. unlimited credit causes inflation which can result in deflation and a breakdown of our economy," he warned, "so it Is necessary that restrictions on loans and credit be tightened when the amount of money in circulation is greater than the available services and goods. We have again reached the point of too much money in cir culation in proportion to things to ouy, mercer said, "so credit has been somewhat limited as a pro tection for our economy. Curtail ment of credit now is no more strict than it was in 1951 and 1952. however. More people are using credit tnan ever before because the amount of money in circulation has increased," the speaker de clared. Mercer told his audience that Klamath Falls is fortunate in hav ing the Merchants Credit Service because the average community of less than metropolitan size does not have an adequate credit rating Dureau. "Hap Lawler and Vi Bonjorno, co-managers ot tne Dureau, are rendering an even greater service to the community in view of the fact that Klamath Falls has' no Better Business Bureau," Mercer said. During the business meeting, the nominating committee, consisting of Agnes Green, chairman. Dale Bleha and Jerry Rhoads, report ed that A. C. Bailey, Lew Hamblin, Alfred Collier and Jim Kerns have been elected directors for two-year terms. President Ray Ward presided at1 the meeting and introduced the guest speaker.
