Elizabeth Bunnell of Malln started home for Christmas from Corvallls and spent 23 hours on the bus before it continued to Klamath Falls. Purvine, OTI, recently took part Death Takes Herbert Bull Funeral services will be held from Ward's Klamath Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday, De cember 29 for Herbert Bull, who died Saturday. December 24. He was S3 years old. Death apparently followed a heart attack. Mr. Bull was employed by the Ned Putnam Logging company He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Pelican Post, 1383 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Klamath Falls. He- is survived by his widow, Dorothy, one daughter, Mrs. Doris Wekkin and two granddaughters, JoAnne and Diane Wekkin, all of Klamath Falls. The Rev. Charles Myers of the Immanuel Baptist Church will of ficiate at the service. Dunsmuir School Tells Schedules DUNSMUIR A winter schedule of classes has been announced by Roger Ellis, principal of the Duns mulr Elementary School. During the winter months, the lunch pe riod will be shortened to one-half hour and the dismissal time In the afternoon will be advanced ac cordingly. Ellis explained that during bad weather, most children bring their lunches and since playground use is impossible, an hour lunch period leaves the children restless and places added responsibility for en tertainment and supervision on the teachers. Defense Summons Friends Of Abbott To Witness Stand1 OAKLAND (UP) The defense called friends and relatives yes terday in an attempt to under mine the circumstantial evidence linking Burton W. Abbott to the kidnaping and murder of Stephan ie Bryan. Called to the stand were Ab bott's classmate and drinking com panion, Thomas W. Daly; Abbott's brother-in-law and his stepson, and Abbott's sister-in-law. Abbott's cabin, near which Stephanie's body was found, Is located near Wlldwood. Daly is presently employed as a carpenter In the Wlldwood lumber mill. He said Abbott appeared calm and unbothered while they en gaged in a nine-hour drinking bout, and the day after the 14-year-old Berkeley school girl disappeared. Daly said one of the prosecution's major witnesses, Delbert Cox, the bartender, was often engrossed in television and that other members of Cox's family tended bar. Cox had testified earlier that Abbott was not In the bar on April 28. Under cross-examination, Daly admitted that Cox greeted Abbott on April 29 as If he had not seen him for some time. Abbott claims he stopped at the bar on the pre vious day for a quick drink. Abbott's brother-in-law, Edwin O. Jeppesen was followed to the stand by his stepson. Their testl money was believed to be aimed at discounting the testimony of a prosecution expert who said soil fragments found on Abbott's boots came from Stephanie's grave. Mrs. Mary Abbott, wife of the defendant's brother,' Mark, was called to substantiate Abbott's vis it to the mountain cabin. Under cross - examination she admitted she never saw Abbott's car the entire time she was there.
