Miss Ravizza, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ravizza, and a student at the University of Ore gon, was en route to the home of her parents when the accident happened. She suffered a broken right hip and a deep cut across the forehead in addition lo num erous bruises and shock. She Is a patient in St. Charles Memorial Hospital, Bend. She was pinned beneath the heater In an automobile driven by Dwlght Lee Souers Jr. of Klam ath Agency, also a student at the university, Souers struck a road grader after the windshield of his car was spattered with muddy wa ter by a passing truck. The injured girl is the grand daughter of Mrs. Leslie Rogers. Wil son, Modoo County deputy sheriff who assisted game law enforce ment officers during the open doe reason in Modoc County that opened December 10 and ended December 18. has Issued a protest over the 'mismanaRement of the hhoot by the California State Branch of the U.S. Pish and Wild liie Service and the senseless laughter of the California-Oregon inter-state deer herd." Other flora in the same i.eneral area Is not affected. The officer also protested dates of the season which come after the rutting season; the "irrespon sible shooting." practically on the doorsteps of ranch homes, the lack of policing facilities provided for law enforcement officers and the overlapping of authority. He cited numerous instances of law breaking, including the finding of a number of bucks killed out of season. An estimated 3,600 animals were killed during the doe season. Reyes Files Appeal Motion CORVALLIS On Martin B. Reyes, 23, Seattle, sentenced to life Imprisonment, has filed a mo tion for a new trial in circuit court here. Reyes was convicted Dec. 13 of second degree murder in the death of James R. Appelgate, 30, Oct. 24. Reyes' attorneys, in filing the motion, listed 17 alleged errors at law thev assert were permitted in the trial. Robert Croll (Col leen Creswellj Vancouver, B.C. Jury Boosts Pay For Land A circuit court Jury late Friday awarded C. H. and J.- F. Kelly, Klamath Basin ranchers $11,000 plus legal fees at the conclusion of a suit filed against them by the city over restricted easement on 90 acres of land adjacent to the municipal airport. The action was instituted in Judge David R. Vandenberg's court after Uie Kelly brothers re fused to accept $6,750 for allowing he restricted easement on their land. The land, is needed to facili tate construction of the Klamath Falls Jet Interceptor base. Attorneys Dick Maxwell and Ben Goddard who represented the ranchers, contended that instruc tions on Uie land eliminated possi bility of its development as a sub division. Under the terms of the restricted easement, no buildings could be erected on the tract and not more than 25 persons would be allowed to congregate there. When the jury announced its ver dict after three hours deliberation. City Attorney Henry Perkins said it would be up to the city council to decide whether the case should be appealed. The defendants asked $15,000 plus $5,000 legal fees. Judge Vandenberg will decide what remuneration Maxwell and Goddard will receive. Court costs also, must be paid by the city.
