' v if saw Christmas Confections i Betty Crocker suggests Christ mas tree favors for the holiday table, made from General Mills' new multi-colored cereal, Trlx. The bright red, yellow and orange pel lets make pretty decorations and also good snack eating. The tiny corn puffs are fruit-flavored rasp berry, lemon and orange. To make the tiny trees, mix syrup with the cereal and press into greased conical paper drink ing cups. Wooden skewers become tree trunks and large gumdrops become the bases to make the trees stand straight and tall. TREE CONFECTIONS 1 cup sugar 1-3 cup water 1-3 cup corn syrup 1 teaspoon salt ',4 cup butter 1 teaspoon vanilla 7 cups Trix Mix sugar, water, com syrup, butter in saucepan. Cook to 250 degrees or until a few drops form a hard ball when dropped into cold water. Remove from neat and stir In vanilla. Pour hot syrup in thin stream over cereal in large greased bowl, stirring constantly. Press into greased paper cone drinking cups. Insert pointed wood en skewers into cone to form trunk of tree. When cool, gently remove paper cups. Push blunt eud of skewers into large gumdrops so trees will stand upright. Makes about 12 trees. , eNOW TREES Por glistening, snowy trees, use this tasty marshmallow mature instead of the syrup: 20 marshmallows 2 tablespoons butter a teaspoon salt 4 cups Trlx Melt marshmallows, butter and salt over hot water and stir until smooth. Pour mixture over cereal in buttered bowl and mix gently. Proceed as In recipe for Tree Confections. Makes nine trees.
