The discussion took place at the home ol Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hughes between McPherson, Thomas Hughes and Robert Dev lin, Hughes told police the discus sion took place in his second-floor bedroom. He said he handed Mc Pherson the revolver with one bul let In the cylinder, telling him: "II you think you're right, pull the trigger." McPherson put the revolver to his temple and lired. Hughes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hughes and Devlin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C Devlin. Both the elder Hughes and Devlin are prominent Sacramento attorneys. Alcatraz Inmate Slain SAN FRANCISCO (UP) FBI agents quizzed hardened convicts in Alcatraz Prison today in an attempt to learn what lay behind the fatal stabbing- of a convicted rapist. The victim was Sidney Moore, 31, Washington. D.C. He died in the prison hospital at 6 p.m. yes terday of stab wounds in the ab domen and chest. He had been knifed eight hours earlier. Warden Paul J. Madigan said Moore's assailant was James A. Bullock, 36. of Louisiana, a con victed murderer. a Word of the slaying in the na tion s toughest prison got out when prison authorities notified the cor oner's office to meet the prison launch at 8:30 p.m. and pick up the- body of the slain man. Madigan said Moore and Bullock got into a fight yesterday morning while 476 prisoners were taking their morning exercise. Four guards who were on duty In the yard at the time pulled the two men apart. .. Madigan said none of the guards knew what started the fight or where Bullock got the knife he used. Presumably it was one he had fashioned in secret and hidden on his person or m his cell, no mean feat on the security conscious "Rock."
