McCath- ern, 49, Redding, were killed when their car collided with a truck at Protect City. Husband Held For Assault : Harold (Charlie) Hill, 26-year-old Chiloquin logger, accused of cutting his wife's throat with a hunting knife, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon Monday. Hill was transferred from Klam . ath Valley Hospital to the county jail Sunday by Sheriff Murray Brittbn. He was under treatment for a self-inflicted bullet wound in the chest. The cutting and shoot ing occurred in Chiloquin Satur day. . Brltton said Hill killed the fam ily dog and tried suicide after knifing his wife, Rose Marie Hill, 31. Mrs. Hill is still in the hos pital in a serious condition. Her hroat was slashed from ear to ear.. The alleged knife wielder was slated for arraignment late Mon day before District Judge D. E. Aaron Schubert, 45, of Oakland, wes killed by a blast from the gun of his son, Don, 15, as they were hunting together on Bethel Island Saturday. George H. Burton Hoyle manager of the Tulelake Field Station said today that digging will be continued as soon as the snow melts. Snowfall in the recent storm was much less than the Klamath Falls area. Forty thousand pounds left the sorting sheds for Portland tost week which brought 10 cents per pound field run. Yields are from three to four tons per acre but vary widely according to cultural methods used. Yield In most fields Was satis factory, Hoyle said. The crop Is being dug with two row potato diggers or potato bulk ers. A crew of 20 men and women are sorting in three, eight-hour shifts at Jones' Cellar No. 4 at Newell. .
