' The testers report that the aver age milk production per cow In Oc tober was 593 pounds, and the av erage butterfat production was iH.l pounds. The single owner-tarn-pled herd produced 1068 pounds of milk per cow and 39.2 pounds of butterfat. Petersen said that the Improve ment Association has grown over the past year, with 20 herds total ling 1133 cows on standard test .compared to 17 hrrds with 116 'cows last year. ! Johnson returned to the scene of trials and triumphs as a poor boy college student to insist that both pnrtlcs shun foreign affairs as a 1956 presidential campaign issue and confront the world with unity on foreign affairs. James Harpole Presents Boy Scout Honor Awards LAKE VIEW James Harpole, Klamath Falls. Arthur W, Schaupp and Paul O. Landry are the only two members of this body in Klamath Falls. There are about 48 members of the degree In Oregon. The goal for the drives was $3,000. An assembly for giving the final results was held on No vember 16, at which it was 'cport ed that the top four students In magazine sales were Tom Shaw with $228.35, George Flitcraft with (160.50. Yvonne Bailey with $81.31, and Shari Ramey with $76.50. Prizes were given to these students. Ricky Maguire won the portable radio in a drewing. Two movies were shown. At 2:30 on Wednesday the stu dents were dismissed because of snow. School was dismissed on Thursday for the same reason. All 16 of the candidates were ac cepted for the Honor Roll. They had achieved a 1.5 scholastic grade average. This year there will be a volley ball tournament among the nine home rooms at KFJH. The team captains for the different home rooms are Stephen Binney, Chuck Clark, Nancy Eblnger, Keith Lar son, Jerry Wickersham, Bill San to, Ronnie Olvera, Ysmael Her rera and Joe Pynes. School Building Site Cleared FORT ROCK The' building site for the new two-room elementary school was cleared 10 days ago by Floyd Branch, using the county ernder. Construction work wns scheduled to begin November 14, but seven inches of new snow delayed the pouring uf the foundation for the building. Contractor on the job is Duncan Construction Company,' Klamath Palls, and the new 00 x 100-fooi structure will cost approximately $65,000. Completion date has been set for January 1, 1956. Structural engUieer who drew plans for the building is William Wales Jr., 4512 Clinton Avenue. An unusual feature of the build ing, according to Duncan, will be two Cofar reinforced concrete mezzanine decks supported by concrete columns and beams. The one-story building will have a reinforced concrete frame, curtain walls of clay tile, steel-trussed roof with steel roof decking and steel rolling doois. The different degrees are com plete in themselves, teaching by allegory great truths of Jtiilcs, philosophy, history, science and re ligion, yet taken together from the first to the 32nd. they constitute a harmonious whole, each leading up to the other. The degrees of the Scottish Rite are both practical and philosophi cal. Practical in that the lessons they teach are fitted for, and wor thy to be' taken into the every day life of each member and used as rules for the government of hl3 conduct. The philosophical teachings deal with a phase of existence, which in its last analysis each must sjlve for himself. It has been said. "These teachings are not as easily digested as the primer and cate chism for the children." The 'leaders of the lodges em phasize that the teachings re quire patient study and profound reflection in order to be compre hended and It Is not expected that any initiate will become an ade pt or.aavant by sitting through one reunion, taking the obligations ar.d hearing the ramified philosophies of the degrees unfolded.
