Cuffell, petty officer in charge of the Klamath Falls Naval Recruiting Station, re cently returned from Portland, where he reenlisted for four years. next February, he will have com pleted 21 years of naval service. During his service, Cuffel served aboard the- USS Washington dur ing the battle of Guadalcanal and aboard the USS John W. Thoma- son when it was rammed on the night of November 11, 1951, by her sister ship, the USS Buck. There were no lives lost in the ramming accident, Cuffel says.
