The invitation was extended bv the new conductor of the orchestra, Theodore Bloomfield. Angel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Angel, Klamath Falls, has been acclaimed by musical experts following his numerous re citals and concerts throughout the Northwest. He will be the youngest member of the Portland musical group. Wayne is now a sophomore at Portland State College where he is majoring in music. Jewell Shannon, last year's con- certmlstress of the KUHS orches tra who is now attending West- mont College, Santa Barbara, Call - fornla, majoring in music has also been honored by Demg mciuaeu as a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stephan Krayk. Phone 7277 THIS IS THE CHANCEL of the new sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, Sixth and Pine streets. In preparation for comoleting the building, the church will have a combined financial drive on Sunday, November 20, to seek pledges of $102,000 for the chureh building and of $39,970 to underwrite the annual budget. The educational unit of the church was completed in 1951 and the bell tower in 1953. The target date to begin construction on the sanctuary is April 2, 1956. Morrison and Howard, Klamath Falls are the architects. Pastors of the church, oldest and largest Protestant church in Klamath Falls, are Dale E. Hewitt and James V. Overdorff, Presbyterians Look Forward To Finishing Of New Church The new unit of the First Pres byterian Church to be built at a cost of approximately S102.000 will contain the sanctuary with a seat ing capacity of 340 in the nave and 42 in the choir. There will be additional pews for 109 persons in the balcony. ! . Pledges for the amount needed for the final unit of the building. to be sought at the Sunday serv' Ice on November 20, will be ex tended over a three-year period. In addition to the pledges for the building fund the annual budget of $39,970 will be sought from the membership. The educational unit of the mod ern building whs finished In 1951, the tower two years later. Overall cost of the modern brick building will be approximately $300,000. A lounge-type parlor and con fcrence room will be located at the rear of the nave. On the level of the balcony three rooms will ue provided for Sunday school classes. A large nursery with mod crn facilities, banquet and rocrea tion room- for 300 and a kitchen equipped with stainless steel units will be on the basement level, The chancel of the church has several' unique features. A rolled screen on two levels will provide space for the choir and a private family, room for funeral services Stained glass windows -will be to Ihe leit of the chancel. A seven- foot communion table will be at the base of the cross at the rear of the chancel. The baptismal font will be built, into the front of t he pulpit.
