According to the mayor. 134 acres of land was purchased. He also said 19,565 was paid by the city for restricted easement on 87 ecrcs of land in the same area. Pogo Plane Plans Seen WASHINGTON lifl Plans for an aircraft designed to take off or land Vertically, yet fly almost l'i times the speed of sound, were to be shown to Defense Department officials Tuesday. A small-scale model of the pro posed craft was prepared for the purpose. The craft, after vertical takeoff, would tuck its rotor blades back to form a sort of tail, somewhat like that of a shuttlecock, and would fly forward in level position like a jet airplane. The counties receive 75 per c?nt of this, less J'i million allocated by the counties for con struction of access roads to the timber. The Bureau of Land Manage ment, which administers OfcC lands on a sustained yield basis, said timber sales in the 1954-55 period totaled 664.600.000 board feet, compared with 615,100,000 in 1953-54.
