Secretary of Labor Mitchell, League Wants Added Pension ST.LOUIS 11 A proposal for $100-a-monlh . pensions, without restrictions, for World War 1 vet erans 60 years old or older, has been approved by the Marine Corp League. A resolution, passed by the or ganization at its 32nd annual con vention yesterday, directed the group's national leaders to seek legislation for such pensions. As Mitchell views It, either older people are going to be provided jobs so tlicy may support them selves, or younger people will be saddled with the cost of taking care of them. The Labor Department has set out to prove that whatever reasons there may have been m me pasi against hiring uie older woraei, they no lon&er exist. The department says the nature of jobs have changed: Where con siderable muscular strength once was required, the premium now is on qualities peculiar to the oMer worker: dependability, responsi bility.
