Bob Ball and his bride, the former Barbara Ruth Hess, went through Hackensack High School together in New Jersey; and 4 years at Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina, of which both are graduates. The bridegroom has been a member of the staff at Radio Station KFLW for two months. Prior to that, he had been associated with WMUU in Greenville. The Rev. Freeman L. Schmitt read the 1 1 a.m. service in the presence of a very small group of friends. The couple honeymooned at Crater Lake, which neither one had seen before. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman W. Hess and Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Ball, live in Hackensack, New Jersey. Hurd of Dunsmuir who were married on 'Saturday, August 20. at St. Pat rick's Church In Weaverville. The bride, a member of one of Trinity County's oldest families, Is ine ci&uffmer or Mr. ana Mrs. m. V. Ryan of weaverville. The bride. groom Is Uie son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Hurd Sr., of Dunsmuir. The nuptial service was read by me nev. t. a war a Me10. David and Robert Ryan, cousins of the bride, aerved as altar boys, A waltz length princess style wedding dress of white satin and Alencon lace fashioned with a por trait neckline and bracelet length sleeves waa the choice of Ihe bride for her bridal gown. Ehe carried shower of calla lilies and her brief veil was beld by a coronet of lace and seed pearls. Mrs. J. R. Kapler, Berkeley, was matron ol honor In pink organdy with burgandy accessories. She can led a bouquet of pink gladioli. A. D. Hurd Jr., also Berkeley, served as best man lor his broth er. BTJshers were W. B. Ellington and S. M". Busby, both of Duns muir. Mary Pat Marshall played the traditional wedding music and Mrs. Richard Ryan sang "Ave Maria" and "The Song of Ruth" accompanied by Jcneth Miller. A buffet luncheon at the Dnrlsh house was served to 100 guests following the morning ceremony. The mother of the bride wore gray taffeta with pink accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. Mrs. iiurd sr.. wore an ensemble of rose chiffon with white acces sories and' matching corsage. The newlywcds will make their home In Berkeley where the bride groom Is employed by the Western Pine Supply Company. The bride, a June graduate of the University of California, plans to resume her studies there this fall working for a master's degree. LADIES AID AT MERRILL MERRILL The Ladies Aid of the Merrill Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Dwight Eagle the afternoon of August 17. A potlucic luncheon on the lawn was enjoyed by the 21 members ana five visitors present. Out of town guests were: Mrs. Je.vie C. Kaltenhorn of Shafter, California, visiting her sister Har riet Potherinsham; and Mrs. Mar garet Roberts from San Jose, visiting; her daughter Mrs. Anne Fruits. During the business meeting sev eral committees were appointed. Ceraldine Moore, will be chairman of the Potato Festival Banquet, Miriam Hunnicutt, general chair man of the Bazaar. Delia Hodges and Harriet Fotheringham are co chairmen of the rummage sale, tentative date set for October 14-15. Anyone having rummage to donate may take it to Delia Hodges' home. The next meeting will be Septem ber 21 at the home of Mrs, E. N. Eagle.
