OREGON FRIDAY, AUGUST 12, 1955 Wood River Pioneers Plan Annual Picnic On Weekend J iff j 4 1 r L- 9 COOPERATION AND COORDINATION of efforts resulted in this big floating dock, finest on any water front on La Ice of the Woods, The dock, completed recently, is at Camp Esther Applegafe, used by Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. It was built in thi shape of an "L" of heavy timbers, atop 32-feeK long peeled red fir logs donated by O. K. Pucicetf. The hauling was donated by Leonard Putnam, Putnam Logging Company. , - . ' J John Fowler, manager of the Klamath Valley Lumber Compmy was in charge of construction. The project was completed un der the supervision of Jack Murphy, president of the board of governors of Camp Esther Applegate. Previous to building of the dock, makeshift docks built of oil drums were used. Karen Warner, Deanna and Trudy brown and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Oden. The Odens played oldtime music un the fiddle and piano. Prize winners for the sack races and three-legged races were Jim my O'Connor. Trudv Brown. Neal Tofell and Jo O'Connor. Bennie Devis nnd Roger Reid placed first and second in the pie-eating contest.
