Jumpers also feature a greater variety in styling this year, with Interest centered around new neck lines or choice of wider or narrow skirts or long waistlines. In contradistinction to these slim coats, there are long short coats on the bulky side, ideal for giving lop dimension to many slim separates and dresses. These coats are part of the costume look coming up so strojigly for college wear. KNITWEAR Knitwear plays an important role Jn the costume look, but its great est influence is more general and pervasive. Knitwear first was re sponsible for dyed-to-match and outgrowing trends. Knitwear accounts for the general ' preference of soft fabrics. Other ; than greater representation of wool jerseys, there are the softened 1 tweeds and fleeces and wool fab-j rics with fur content. These emu- late the soft hand of cashmere, a soft luxury fabric also being used a lot in fall sportswear. Aside from all the sweater fash ion, separates houses have adopted the sweater as part of the fall fashion scheme. Designers special izing in young clothes have worked on sweaters and come up with bulky short cqats. Coarse stitches, cables, tweed yarns identifying the sweaters that, added to anything, make a costume.
