The days of the campaign might not be so pleasant; but Mrs. Walrath will still make her calls in the neighborhood; and the youngsters are eager to get going. They already have a de sire to take part in "helping" after mother told them that money collected would provide care for homeless children "just their ages." Typical of many weary women workers after a long day of making United Fund-Red Cross residential campaign con tacts is Mrs. Willard Ward, member of the planning com mittee, who heads five residential districts. She started her work several weeks ago, lining up volun teers to cover individual neighborhoods. Other than this re sponsibility, she will, no doubt, as many of the volunteer leaders will, do much of the actual door to door soliciting because she believes in the United Fund and feels that each housewife should consider it a privilege to do her share. So she', like many of the other workers home from a long day's work, will have to whip up a quick meal for her husband and two sons, Jimmy, eleven; and David, seven; 6th and 2nd graders at Roosevelt. Jimmy is a Boy Scout; and realties the importance of the United Fund. "Ready to go" are four of the many enthusiastic volun teers, lower left. They reflect the spirit of their co-workers which manifested itself by tripling last year's attendance at the kick-off meeting. All determined to top the $6000 quota. .
