With Academy Award and all the offers he can handle, he is once again silting on top of the show business vnrld. Yet he seems restive and contentious to a sizable number of people. I have always enjoyed pleasant relations with him. I have found him friendly and helpful. Yet many columnists hate his guts. I tried to probe out the reasons (or this when he talked In his dress. Johnston, superintendent of Crater Lake National Park since last November, has received a transfer to the National Park Service regional office in San Francisco where he will be chief of operations. Mr, and Mrs. Johnston plan to leave about September 1. Their only Son, Jerry, 18, who Is- em ployed this summer asi a fhe guard at Lassen Volcanic Park, will be a freshmen at Chlco State College this fall. Johnston has been in national park service for 26 years. New superintendent at Crater Lake National Park will be Thom as Williams, who is being trans ferred from his post as assistant superintendent at Mt. Olympic Na tional Park, Port Angeles, Wash ington. They are expected to ar rive about the end of August. Crater Lake National Park, which lies wholly within Klamath County, has a permanent personnel of about 80 persons.
