W Coura geous little Murray Halberg of New Zealand ranked Friday with kuigs and conquerors after beating the great Roger Bannister and out performing famous John Landy Thursday in the mile trials at the British Empire Games. Murray mRy bow Saturday to the power that is latent in the legs of the mighty, when Bannister and Landy wage the duel that the world has been awaiting since they cracked the 4-minute barrier in separate tests earlier in the year. But the Empire Games mile Saturday will be men against men instead of men against the clock and the little Auckland school-, teacher has proven himself a man. There was a slight following breeze on the straightaway sec tion of the track, which may af fect her chance for acceptance as a world holder. Marjorie has a previous 24-seond time up for con sideration. An effort equalling a world standard was turned in by Edna Maskell of Northern . Rhodesia when she skimmed over the C0 meter hurdles in 10.9 seconds. This was disallowed immediately because of the breeze.
