McKendree, who already has a duck picker on the market, put in over a year's research on the chicken picker before turning out these pilot models. The picker, designed for average home use, should be in production on a commercial basis within three months, he said. British, Egypt Conference Held CAIRO, Egypt UP A weekend of Intensive British-Egyptian confer ences on the Suez Canal issue ended early today apparently with out agreement on evacuation of British troops from the canal zone. Premier Gamal Abdel Nasser . conferred for nearly five hours last night with British Ambassador Sir Ralph Stevenson but refused to dis cuss the negotiations with news men. Suspect In Girl's Death Questioned MIAMI, Fla. Miami detec lives returned Walter Lee Yow here Irom Georgia for further questioning today about his story that he saw 7-year-old Judith Ann Roberts raped and murdered last Tuesday. Detectives Charles Sapp and I. J. Whitman said the 44-year-old former convict's story was vague and full of discrepancies but con sistent enough to warrant bringing him back. He w a s arrested In Marietta, Ga., Saturday for vagrancy. Yow told officers he was with the man who stole Judith Ann. daughter of a Baltimore- lawyer and labor leader, from her bed In the home of her grandparents. Sapp said Yow related at first that he saw his companion rape the child, then smash her head with a rock, but later Insisted he waited In the car some' distance away while the other man took the girl into a wooded area off fashion able Bayshore Drive. Then Yow declared he made up the story to get out of Georgia and back to Florida because he had been told that Georgia officers would "bash in his head" If he fell into their hands. Georgia officers said the paunchy Yow, who described him self as a Cherokee Indian, had a long record of convictions, includ ing assault on a female, and had been in a North Carolina hospital for criminally insane. Russians, Red Chinese In Conflict Over Indonesia By WILLIAM L. BYAV AP Foreign News Analyst Moscow seems to be muscling In on the Chinesu Communists in Indonesia. Once again there is a hint of conflict of authority in Asia between Moscow and Peiping. Last week's appointment of a Soviet ambassador to Indonesia spells trouble for that politically disorganized country of 70 million people. But It also recalls previ ous indications of conflict over spheres of intluence for example in the Communist parties of India. Japan and Korea between the Russians and their Chinese allies. With Viet Nam in Indochina vir tually In the Red pocket, advancing an encirclement of the Asian main land, Indonesia becomes a key country in Communist planning. NEW EMBASSY Western observers there have been waiting eight months lor an nouncement that the U.S. SR. would open an embassy in Jakar ta. When it came, some of them assured me recently, it would con firm suspicions that the Russians and Chinese disagreed on how Communist revolution should de velop in the Indies, whose politics have been in a chaotic state much of the time since they won sov ereignty from Holland in 1949. The Russians never had an em bassy in Jakarta. Four years ago Indonesia took up the matter with Moscow. Nothing was done. But six months ago after beginnings of an Indonesian party purge the Russians agreed on an ex change of ambassadors. The In donesians named one. he Rus sians did nothing. Then, last week, Moscow appointed Dmitri A. Zhukov to the post. AMBASSADOR Zhukov, former ambassador to Chile, has been chief ol protocol in the Soviet Foreign Ministry. In addition, he is an expert on areas which Communist jargon calls "co lonial and dependent." Indonesia is such an area. Despite its indepen dence, the Communists still refer to the coming ".liberation" there. The Chinese Communists have had general charge of Red strategy for the Indies. They have a huge embassy in Jakarta with a staff of more than 300. Chinese funds swelled the coffers of the tightly organized Indonesian Communist party. Last October the party began a purge, eliminating Chinese ele ments. The party congress four months ago confirmed expulsion from the Central Committee of Tan Ling Djie, Chinese by origin and a party theoretician. Others went out with him. Today the party Is in the hands of a triumvirate made up of D. N. Aidit, 31, secretary general, who has been to Moscow. M. H. Luk man, 34, first deputy secretary and son of a Moslem religious teacher: and NJoto, 29, permanent repre sentative in Indonesia of the Com munist World Federation of Trade Unions and president of its estate labor section. Njoto, who also has been to Moscow, heads the Com munist - dominated Trade Union Federation. CHINESE SLIGHTED The Chinese were slighted at the March congress. Only Soviet Pre mier Malenkov's portrait was dis played with Aidit's on tho stage. That of Mao Tze-tung was in the wings. The Communist party, with about 120,000 members at the mo ment, Is exceedingly strong in In donesia. It has only 29 seats of 216 hi Parliament, but the others arc distributed among 18 parties so '.he Communists hold the bal ance of power. They have wed themselves to the Nationalist (PNI parti', which now rules un easily. The Communists can cause the Cabinet's fall at will. Although the party publicly de nounces terrorism, it has infiltrat ed terrorist groups. The party is carrying out force ful and incessant propaganda in the countryside to convince the peasants of the worth of commu nism, never at any time offending the peasants' Moslem religious feelings. In short,' the Indonesian situa tion may now look so promising to Moscow that the Kremlin may have thought it high time to move In, establish an embassy and take over full direction of the Indonesi an party in preparation for a com ing Red revolution. Indonesia, ri otously rich, is a tempting prize. Former Guatemala Aide Leaves U. S. NEW YORK Itfi ' Hubert F. Julian, a Negro aviator whose passport was taken away last month, flew to London by com mercial plane yesterday with a new passport. The old one was lifted June 17 when he arrived from Europe. He has claimed he is purchasing agent for Guatemala and the move was apparently connected with ship ment of arms from Poland to , Guatemala. The 56-year-old flier denied he had anything to do with the arms shipment. He said he was cleared for travel by the State Department last Friday..
