Committee chairmen, appointed to serve for the Boy Scout meal July 11, were asked for their reports. Much discussion was held on the menu Items which will be served to around 100 decided so that orders may. be made In advance. The Malln Garden Club met Wednesday afternoon, June 24, at the W, C. Dalton home with Mrs, Dalton - and Mrs. Ben Johnson hostesses. The meeting was In charge of the newly Installed offi cers, President Mrs. Loyal Love ness, Vice Pres. Mrs. Robert Holl, Secretary Mrs, Phil Blohm and Treasurer Mrs. Merle Loosley. Members voted to hold a local flower show In August. The new ly printed year books, in the shape of a pansy, were distributed to members. Several reported on the tour of Klamath Falls gardens which they had taken the day be fore. Program Chairman Mrs. Frank paygr Introduced Mrs. Dale West o( Merrill, who gave a flower ar ranging lesson, demonstrating with various containers and many different blooms. Alter her demon strations, she passed around the containers and flowers to the group and each one made an ar rangement. Members voted on the one they liked best by placing stars at each arrangement. Mrs. Connie Loveness' arrangement re ceived the most stars. Present were: Mrs. Phil Blohm, Mrs. Walter Stastny, Mrs. Edwin Stastny, Mrs. Charles Hamilton, Mrs. Merle Loosley, Mrs. Carlo Cornett, Mrs. Teresa McComb, Mrs. Frank Paygr, Mrs. A. H. So they Just ground out lousy pictures, knowing the gullible pub lic would snap them up. The same guys who cashed In on the talkie craze are doing It now. "As a result, the real creators of the business the men with taste and ability are left out in the cold. They aren't going to tinker with these gimmicks. So the quality of pictures is going to bit a new low. Bogart said that he and John Huston were ready to start their European' venture, "Beat the Devil," when the 3-D revolution broke out. "We were in Italy when we read a copy of Variety telling all about It," he recalled. "Big panic I Every thing Is a crisis to John and he was running around trying to get one of the new lenses. Finally, cooler heads prevailed, and we shot the picture 'flat and black.' "But we got a good picture. I think the public will still buy 'flat and black' pictures If they're good." While he was In an argumenta tive mood, Bogart added another blast at Hollywood glamor girls. I trust this does not Include his wire, Lauren Bacall. "They should take a lesson from the European actresses," he said scornfully. "Like Gina Lollobri- gida, who was In our picture. What a doll I That glrr can do anything. Stanton, who with his wife has re turned from Evanston, 111., where Stanton has finished three years of graduate work at Garrett Biblical institute in connection with norm western University.
