Seven days of torrential rains turned much of the norUiem part of Kyushu an area about the alze of New Jersey - into a vast lake. Catholic Schools May Lose Texts PORTLAND Wl Most Catholic schools in Oregon apparently will not be eligible next fall for the free textbooks they have been getting under Oregon law. Catholic school heads explained that most parish schools will have to Ignore the state standards on student-teacher ratio. They said a big increase In students is coming up. The state standards alms at not more than 25 - 30 students per teacher. The archdiocese ratio will be not more than 4540 pupils per teacher. Failure to meet the state stand ard means that parents will have to provide the textbooks for students in parochial schools.
