Both Allied and Communist armies appeared to be awaiting the outcome tangled armistice negotiations.. Communist loudspeakers on the Central Front again blared their prediction that an armistice will be signed Thursday third anr.i versary of the war. The Beds had predicted a truce on June SS for days before an armistice was Jeopardized by South Korea's re lease of more than 27,000 anil- Communist war prisoners. The biggest Red probing attack Tuesday was in company sirengui, the Eighth Army reported. Overcast skies and rain ground ed most Allied waiplane.i. The Eighth Army said more than 10.000 Communists were killed last week, most of them in the bloody fighting on the Central Front: The total was the biggest since the battles for White Horse Mountain and Triangle Kill last October. Allied casualties for the week were not disclosed, but U. N. losses presumably were heavy In the battles along the East-Central. Cops Accused Of Conniving DALLAS W Five Dallas police men were under suspension today., accused of conniving with a burg lary alarm firm employe to steal merchandise from stores and ware houses. ' One detective was Indicted yes terday on theft charges and another charged with theft. They and three other officers were suspended. Legal action against more Dal las policemen accused of burg. larleg was promised today. Detec tive Capt. P .B. Leach said," We're going to clear up many, many cases covering many years." Chief Carl Hansson said -when one of the alarm company's sensi tive alarms would go off acciden tally in a business house or ware house, the officers would meet the employe at the scene. Ag Department To Sell Peas WASH1NOTON M The Atri- culture Department Monday offer ed to sell Its remaining stocks of 23,200 tons of Austrian winter peas on a bid basis. A recent sale or so.ooo tons to three large private concerns at a negotiated price of $30 a ton brought congressional charges of favoritism, and an Investigation by a House agriculture subcommit tee which is still under way. The peas were bought under a grower price support program In 1949 and 1950 at prices averaging about $90 a ton. Forty Bodies Finally Recovered OGDEN. Utah (JB Military authorities said Monday that the bodies of 40 persons who died In an Idaho plane crash last winter have been removed from the mountainside against which the craft smashed. Thirty-seven veterans returning from service In Korea and the three crew members of the C-46 airliner were killed. Efforts to re move the bodies at the time failed because of deep snow. It also reported that this ye.M-'s spring crop totaled 60,126.000 head, a decline of 10 per cent from the 19S2 spring crop. For the consumer this means that a downturn in pork produc tion, which began 18 months ago, will continue' at least through the spring and summer of 1954. Reflecting this reduction, hog and pork prices have been running more than a third higher than a year ago. The decline in pork production followed a eharp drop In prices In 1961. Total meat supplies are averag ing as large as last year because beef production -is considerably larger. It was proposed by Rep. McCormack ID Mass), who long had advocated a pay raise for congressmen on the ground that they have difficulty making ends meet on their present $15,000 official Income. A similar proposal was added by the House last year to the same bill, but the Senate knocked it out and the result was the comprom ise allowing members of Congress to deduct up to (3,000 as business expenses. The McCormack propos al in effect would remove this limi tation, i , Sen. Williams (R-Del), who led the Senate fight against the pro posal last year, said he would fight It again this year. Some members of Congress.
