With his brother. Bud. Pritchett has been working for the past year at the local Wil liam Zumbrun ranch, where Bud is still employed the year round. Gorden residence in which the Pritchetta lived Is now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Brattain and family, who moved over the weekend from their form er home at the Hightmler apart ments here. W. A. (Bill) Stelner. represent ing the Crater Lake Machinery Co. of Klamath Palls, was a busi ness visitor here Thursday and Fri day at the Joseph McAuliffe ranch. Mr. and Mrs. James Van Worm er returned Thursday from an un successful week's elk bunting trip 10 eastern Oregon during whlcn they were guests at the home of State Police Officer and Mrs. Homer (Huck) Snyder at La Grande. Wilbur Hescock. on the other hand, brought home a fine spike elk as a result of a trek to Wallo wa, Ore., staying at the home of his father, .ward Beecber Hescock, during bis bunting expedition. The fact that 43-year-old timber taller John Mullanix was bending down over his saw and not stand' ing up undoubtedly saved bis life last rrraay aiterooon, when be and bis partner, Robert Taylor, were cutting snags on the right-of-way of the Modoc Lumber Company In me i-Miie forest service division of timber west of here. Two fallers working nearby. Floyd Boling and Ober Brown, had just felled an unusually long snag, which crashed down on Mullanix, striking him on bis right side and Inflicting serious injuries. Including broken ribs and a punctured long. (Had he been standing be would have been struck on head). Fellow workers kept him In an upright position against a tree until Ksler's ambu lance arrived from Klamath Falls, as he was unable ta breathe lvlne down. At this writing, nearly a week later, the injured man Is still not able to lie In bis bed at Klant ath Valley Hospital, but is re ported showing Improvement. The full extent of his Internal Injuries will not be determiner) until he is able to lie down, when more X-rays win at inane, tamer this year, Mullanix was injured In a woods accident, and now vows that he will never work at logging again. He and his wife live in one of the Denton Park cottages and since his serious mishap, Mrs. Mullanix has been with her husband con stantly. After spending a year and1 a half In the TJeS. Army Air Force. Capt. Alfred B. Castel was recently mustered out and Is at nrnwni staying with his wife and two small children at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mildred Castel, in Fort Klam- am. As a member of the active re serves of the Air Force Capt. Castel waa recalled to duty, spend ing most Of his time at Portland and Yuma. He has resumed em ployment as salesman for Bal slger Motor Company, Klamath Fans, and with his family will move to Klamath Falls when suitable home is located there. Wednesday. Cam. Castel and hl wife, accompanied bv her father, Bert Albert, Chlloouin. went to Grants Pass to attend the funeral of Mrs. Casters grandfather, who was tne siepiainer of Mrs. Albert. Mrs. Albert had been called to Orants Pass previously by news of her stepfather's serious Illness, and returned Wednesday evening to her home In Chlloquin, accom panying her husband and the Castels on the return trip.
