In a summary of Republican ac tivities In the 82nd Congress, Sen. Bridges of New Hampshire and Ren. Martin of Massachusetts as serted the Truman administration had no answer to "corruption In government except to promise an executive cleanup that ended In a complete farce." The two Republican lawmakers signed a 37-page. 1.300-word report they obviously expect to become well-thumbed document for Re publican speakers in the presiden tial and congressional campaigns. They contended that "before we can steer the United States to its rightful position in world affairs. we must have Republican control of the government." Asserting that the 3nd Congress had "muddled to a dismal end" without resolving any critical issues, the Republican leaders said the Democrats are feeding the fires of Inflation "with wasteful, uncon trolled spending," while still try ing to maintain price controls. Efforts to reach agreement on a full-length treaty of 59 articles, as compared with eight in the short form, had already broken down. State Department officials said they believe the chief reasons Moscow is blocking Austrian in dependence are: 1. Looting Russia, they say, has looted Austria on a grand scale. Peace not only would end looting, but possibly even mean the return of some seised property. 2. Occupation Soviet troops hold a strategic position in Aus tria, and officials believe the Krem lin may never withdraw its troops until basic East-West issues are resolved. Douglas, airplane manufacturer, accuses his wife of 36 years of be ing "cold, cynical critical and in different" toward him for, 15 years before their separation. Douglas charged in an amended divorce complaint he filed Satur day that Mrs. Charlotte M. Doug las, 60, used vile language and belittled his business ability in the presence of their friends and his business associates. Attorneys said the new com plaint was aimed at inclusion of detailed accusations after she filed a demurrer to the original peti tion. They have five children. Dr. Robert Storm, zoologist at Oregon State College, in a study project reported that dens of the deadly snakes could be found about three miles south of Monroe. He has been studying them for five years finding out h for they travel from their dens, how iasi tney grow and whether they return to the aame den each year. The snakes' rattles are colored to make it possible . to Identify them, he said.
