Fire Damage In Thousands MERRILL Between 850.000 and 860.000 .worth of damage resulted from a Mondav afternoon fire that destroyed a giant barn on the Adams ' Point ranch, operated by Louie Lyon, Malta. Cause of the lire was not deter mined, although it was believed to have started In oily debris around a diesel motor that operated a feed mixing mill. Only about 817.000 worth of in surance was carried. In addition to Lyon's cattle. Two trucks from the Merrill Fire Department were seni to the scene and were later Joined by fire-fighting equipment from Malin and Tule lake. The Malin truck stayed through the night to keep the lire trom breaking :out again. Stacks of hay blazed through most Of the night. WATER The lire broke out about 12:45 p.m., and a ditehrider turned n bier head of water, into a ditch running near the bam for the fire equipment to pump from. That probably saved other nearby build ings or uie ranch. , The bunkhouse adjacent was saved although its roof was burned in several spots. .
