MERRILL Between 850.000 and
860.000 .worth of damage resulted
from a Mondav afternoon fire that
destroyed a giant barn on the
Adams ' Point ranch, operated by
Louie Lyon, Malta.
Cause of the lire was not deter

have started In oily debris around
a diesel motor that operated a feed
mixing mill.
Only about 817.000 worth of in
surance was carried.
LOSS
The loss Included snmp Mn inn
oi oaiea nay, a tractor, J6.000

of mixed feed and feed mixiug
equipment
me hay was stacked outside the
and Stewart Nicholson of Port
Klamath, who had been feeding
ome 300 head of cattle there. In
addition to Lyon's cattle.
Two trucks from the Merrill Fire
Department were seni to the scene
and were later Joined by fire-fighting
equipment from Malin and Tule
lake. The Malin truck stayed
through the night to keep the lire
trom breaking :out again. Stacks of
hay blazed through most Of the
night.
WATER
The lire broke out about 12:45
p.m., and a ditehrider turned n
bier head of water, into a ditch
running near the bam for the fire
equipment to pump from. That
probably saved other nearby build
ings or uie ranch. ,
The bunkhouse adjacent was
