Our bread Is baked rather than steamed and In Just 45 minute. The recipe will make enough dough to fill two cans (baked bean alze.i Take one loaf and cut bran bread Into 4 slices horlzontully. For the first slice, combine 1 chopped hard cooked egg, a large grated carrot, 1 stalk celery, chopped, ' tea spoon each salt and peper. 2 drops tabasco sauce and 1 tablespoon mayonnaise. Cover second slice with plmlento cheese spread. For the third, chop ' Inch slice of canned luncheon meat into very fine pieces. Combine with 2 tea spoons India relish and 1 table spoon mayonnaise. Put lourth slice on top. Chill. Just belore serving, frost loaf with softened crcarn cheese which has been seasoned with salt and pepper and beaten until light with about 1 tablespoon milk. Wllh the second loaf, starting at one end and using a sharp knile, make a circular cut halfway through center. Turn the loaf over and. beginning at the other end, repeat the procedure until the two cuts meet. Remove the center with an apple corer. Fill cavity with a cheese spread, such as plmlento, and tnrn insert small sweet pickle end-to-end in center. Spread top with softened cream cheese. For variation, fill cavity with a baked bean filling. Mash 'i cup baked beans with a fork. Combine with 4 teaspoon salt, l'i table spoon chill sauce, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise. Molasses Bran Brawn Bread 1 cup ready-to-eat bran ' i cup seedless raisins 2 tablespoon shortening i cup New Orleans molasses "i cup hot water I eg 1 cup sifted flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon cinnamon C If desired! Measure bran, raisins, shorten ing and molasses Into mixing bowl. Add hot water, stirring until short ening I melted. Add egg and beat well, sirt togetner Hour, sooa, sail, and cinnamon; add to bran mix ture. Stir only until combined. Fill 2 greased cans (baked bean cans, 4'i Inches deep, 23 inches across) about 2-3 full: or spread In greased loaf pan ( Dli x 4"2 inches). Bake in moderate oven (350 F.) about 45 minutes for canned bread or about 35 minutes for loaf bread. Remove from cans or pan, slice and serve hot.
