Police said two of those arrested sold narcotics from their apart ment to addicts who blew toy whistles from the street to signal they wanted to buy . dope. - The two were Identified by po lice as Nathaniel Phillips, 2b, and his brother, David, 26. They and the others arrested are Negroes. Detectives said 21 1 teenagers went to the Phillips apartment last night to buy dope but were turned away by the raiding police All those arrested were booked on charges of selling narcotics. Baby Born To Mother With Polio LOS ANGELES, 'A Mrs. Lillian Hopper, 38, a polio victim, was back In her Iron lung today after having given birth to a 5 pound, 14 ounce daughter. Physicians at general hospital yesterday reported the birth was normal and the child unaffected by polio. During the birth, phy sicians said, the mother was kept alive for 30 minutes with a posi tive respirator, a temporary substi tute for a full-sized Iron lung. Mrs. Hopper and her husband, Herbert D. "America's Sweetheart" To Return To Film Role NEW YORK, W Mary Pickford. once known as "America sweet heart." is coining out of a 19-year retirement from the screen to star in just one more film. The 58-year-old actress will play the role of a librarian in the film. "The Library." to be made by Columbia pictures. Her return to the screen matches in many ways the movie comeback of another early Hollywood queen, Gloria Swanson. Miss Swanson. now M. regained her former prominence last year with the fUm, "Sunset Boulevard." She went on to further successes on the stage and In television. The careers of both actresses ran almost parallel. Miss Swanson started her film career In 1913, Miss Pickford In 1914. Miss Swan son appeared in only two films after 1932. Miss Pickford's last film.
