"America's Sweetheart"
To Return To Film Role
NEW YORK, W Mary Pickford.
once known as "America sweet
heart." is coining out of a 19-year
retirement from the screen to star
in just one more film.
The 58-year-old actress will play
the role of a librarian in the
film. "The Library." to be made
by Columbia pictures.
Her return to the screen matches
in many ways the movie comeback
of another early Hollywood queen,
Gloria Swanson.
Miss Swanson. now M. regained
her former prominence last year
with the fUm, "Sunset Boulevard."
She went on to further successes
on the stage and In television.
The careers of both actresses
ran almost parallel. Miss Swanson
started her film career In 1913,
Miss Pickford In 1914. Miss Swan
son appeared in only two films
after 1932. Miss Pickford's last
film. "Secrets." was made In 1933.
But unlike Miss Swanson, Miss
Pickford Indicated yesterday that
"The Library" would not Do fol
lowed by further roles. She said
in a statement released by Colum
bia pictures that it "Is the one and
only story which would nnve In

Congratulations are In order for
Bob Howard and Frank Weasel,
who, Just last week were voted to
take their places on the first string
of the '51 County All-Star Team.
Bob was selected for his work In
the backfleld while Frank for his
fine playing as a linesman. Also
of Jim Mahoney SHA students are
proud, aa he was placed on the
second string. Honorable mention
was given to three outstanding
Academy Trojans, Ray Beard, Ken
McAndrews. and Gary Thill. We
will be looking for that freshman
Gary on the team next year! But
for those deserving Trojans not
listed here, SH Is very proud, for
everyone knows that without the
entire '51 team the season, which
ended so successfully, would never
nave oeen. ,
Prefect Bob Howard will lead the
Sodality activities this year, as he
was recently elected to this office
by the organization. Other officers
for the coming year will be vice
prefect. Bill Burrltt, secretary Bar
bara Howard, treasurer, Fre'da
Waldron, and sergeant-at-arms, Ed
mond Andersch. Committees will
be appointed In the near future to
plan the activities of the Sodallsts,
Pep Club, Letterman's Club,
Class pictures, Sodality, Chimes
staff, and Olee Club are a few of
the pictures taken yesterday by
Gudnrlan Studio for the '51 annual.
But It Will be a long time before
students will see the proof' of the
pictures. In fact, not until next
May when the Atrian Is distribu
ted. Today seems like the day after
tomorrow usually seems. For those
who don't understand this Greek.
It means that today Is like Fri
day, the last dav of school In the
week. Now for four days students
can sit back and relax without
studies to think about. But since
tomorrow Is Thsnksglvlng, It Is
only right and proper that we
should make a special attempt to
attend Mass on Thsnksglvlng for
tne many wonderful favors and
freedoms we enjoy each day.
