It all goes well the district should have delivered in the next two weeks a 1847 Ford fire truck lully equipped as required by the Oregon fire insurance rating bu reau, with an adequate amount of hose and accessories. As demonstrated near Halsey. the truck pumps over 500 gallons per minute with over 250 pounds pressure. ' But we have to have 500 gallons per minute at this altitude, also when the truck is tested here at the time ol delivery. The Nelson Equipment company, which made the test for the Bhedd-Halsey dis trict, and from whom the truck is to be purchased, is confident that the fire truck with its Sea graves pump will make the Class 'B" test. Commissioners making the ten tative purchase of the rig were Jim Snider, president of the board; Irvln Faris, secretary - treasurer. Kelton Butler, fire chief, and Neal Elliott, the fourth member to make a quorum vote in favor of the transaction. O. K. Johnston finally got his California deer alter hunting hard tor nearly a week. Em ma, of Cnico, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Gallagher last Fri day. Faye Keller returned home last week from a few weeks visit down In Frisco with ber daughter, Ber nlce. She had a very lovely time she reported but was glad to get home. Mrs. Opal McGrew, and daugh ters, June and Olenlce, accompan ied by a friend, Howard Nye, of Prineville, Oregon, visited with rel atlves here over the weekend. The visit was primed by the Frlneville Lalcevlew football game which they attended. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Engstrom, and daughter, Shirley, and Mr. and Mrs. Claypool and family of Prine ville, also attended the game and visited over the weekend. The regular meeting of the East Side grange which was to have been held October 20, was post poned so any East Siders who carea to do so could attend the West Side grange booster night. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Clark and daughter, Jayma Ann, of Susan ville visited for several days with Mrs. Mary Newman and children. Jayma Ann made her home with Mrs. Newman for 18 months prior to last March when she left for her new home In Susanvllle. Other visitors at the Newman home were ' Mrs. R, H. This was the forerunner of the grange social activities for the win ter. She learned that her mother, Mrs. Beatrice, Blaser was taken on to Red Bluff with a double frac tured ankle, a split kneecap and three broken ribs. Her son, 12- year-old James Blaser, went with her and he had severe cuts on the face and head when he was smashed into the windshield. Caroline Blaser, Mrs. Cloud's sis ter, received only shock and bruise. Blake Is a presid ing Judge of the Superior court of Los Angeles county. : Mabel Smith of Oakland, Calif., is up visiting her sister, Mrs. Nera Mulkey for a few days. She, with Mr. and Mrs. Mulkey enjoyed a fishing trip over on Bldwell Creek, Sunday. Mrs. Smith is a county purchasing agent for Alameda county. ' The Youth club had a good at tendance at their meeting October 24, when 31 persons were present. After the business session was over the time was spent square dancing.
