Sawyer. 39. Umatilla, was pinned beneath a large trailer truck he was operating on highway 97. He rammed an embankment and the truck turned over as he Jumped. Nov. 12 ijpi Within a few minutes a broken wa ter main put the damper on Ar mistice Day festivities her. last night. A long, colorful parade wis wind ing its way through town at the time. One of the chief attractions was a small mounted cannon being fired by some fellows from the 40 . otriclal merrymakers of the American Legion. As the cannon unit passed Balti more and Centre street the city's busiest Intersection the boys let go with the cannon once more. Gusher The pavement crumbled, water gushed forth and hundreds of spec tators went scurrying for cover. Buck of Fossil, Ore, has recently undergone a major opera tion. The Hucks were former resi dent of Westside. Th. grange members voted th. us. of th. hall to any religious serv ice or Bunday school. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Garrett and fam. lly returned over the week-end from a two week visit with friend at Fosslll, Ore. The Westside grange has voted to sponsor a dance at the ahll on Fri day night, November 11. It will be a benefit dance tor the Lake county memorial fund. Good music and supper I promised. Everyone 1 urged to attend. Lucll. Buck; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Buck, was operated on Fri day night at the Lakevlew hospi tal for appendicitis. She Is getting along fine and will be moved Home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stover ac companied by Mrs. Anne Sprague, county school superintendent, at tended a state rural school confer ence held at Balem, Ore. They re turned Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Rollln Redlfer at tended the show Sunday and brought Ham Lura with them. Everett Boehm and Ills brother-in-law, Jerry, visited the Redlfer fam ily at camp on Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Stllet accom panied by Mrs. Andy Hill returned from their elk hunting trip last week. While they wer. gone on th. trip their trailer caught on fire, burning up all of their clothes and some camp equipment. Mr. and Mrs. George Lawrence have been visiting her parenu, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stiles, who live at Reed .port. Miss Ma y Martin of Medford has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Martin Sr., and her broth er Jo. Jr., and family.
