Producing School "Annual" Requires Careful Planning By mill KING There's something about a high arhool annual that sends shivers up the spines of most stuaenu. This record ot all school activities Is dis tributed at the end of the school ear when the dullness of class work U about past. It marks the end of the trail for the seniors who cherish It for the bond It will be with the school they are leaving. The process of compiling a school annual is practically the same In all schools. An editor and associate editors are appointed or elected by the student body and the faculty. A theme Is chosen. The editor Is al ways a senior but other posts go to students of other classes. Assoclste editors are usually juniors to be groomed for editor of next years publication. With the germ of the plan for the annual Is plsnted. the actual work Is usually delayed until late spring and the ruth la on. There's a mad hunt for snapshots of boys and girls In craiy poses, cal endar events ara scrambled togeth er, group pictures are taken, the seniors worry about Individual pic tures, a foreword Is written by a student, a faculty message is added to the stockpile of material. The start members appointed to work on the business angle to help finance the cost of the publication i get down to brass tacks. In addition to subscribing to space In Klamath Union high school's El Rodeo, largest of the annuals published In the Klamath country, they buy space in those published by outlying schools. There are six annuals published by Klamath eountv schools. El Rodeo by KUHS: Mehrma. put out by Merrill. Henley and Malin, using the first two letters of each name: the Antlers of Bonanza high school, the Logger of Bly. Olizzly of Oil chrtst and Panther Tracks at Chllo quin.
