Vincent Kellrn was called to Drews' valley ranger district, near Lakevlew, on a I're last week. A fire broke out In back of the achoolhouse Tuesday but was quick ly exllnguisned by the men in camp. Mrs. Hilda Erdman has been a patient at St. Charles hospital in Bend. She Is home now but has to star In bed moct of the time. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Freeman and family spent the week-end In Klamath Falls visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clarence West and family. Sandra Oumpert, Sally Petrono vieh and Ray Lavonne Oumpert are spending this week at Crescent lake at the Camp Fire Girls' summer camp. Weed W. E. Roberts, grammar school principal, la at present on a trip to the bay area. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fields of Bucyrus. O- stopped In Weed Wed nesday evening and spent the nig nt at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Fields. The two men are cousins, and had an enjoyable visit together The Joseph Fields left Thursday, traveling north. They are on an ex tended vacation trip. Mr. and Mrs. Frank N. Rlzzo and on. Louis. Journeyed to Lassen na tional park. Richardson's springs, and Chico Thursday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Ash of Treka were business callers In Weed Friday of last week. Mrs. E. Hickey and children. Shir ley and Jerry, accompanied by Sid ney Smith, left Thursday to spend week In Sacramento. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Christy and daughter. Nancy, were burlneas call ers in Klamath Falls on Tuesday. Mra. Gus Georges and daughter. Dianne. are visiting la the bay area with Mrs. Oeorges' mother and ether relatives. Week-end guesta at the Zack Perry home In Weed were Mr. and Mrs. Lea Roonan of San Mateo and Kent McMillan and son. Edward, of the southern part of the state. The McMillans are former Weed residents. Chiloquin Mrs. Katherlne Hulme. former Chiloquin resident, now of Navato. Calif., was a local visitor for pari of Friday. Mrs. Hulme taught In the primary department of the Chilo quin schools for many years before , moving to California. She has been on vacation and returned on Mon tis y to her home, taking with her ' Mrs. J. B. The I Bradts had been on a trip to San j Luis Obispo. Calif., and were on! their way home. Mrs. Heath and Mrs. Bradt had known each other i when they had lived In Eugene ; during college years. Mrs. Dorothy Davis, w ho has been ! working at The Corner store, lett the first part of the week for Yreka. Calif., where she will live with her sister. Mrs. Vivian Wilson, former Chiloquin resident. The two women will work at a cleaners' establish ment there. Mrs. Davis, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Johnson, left her children here but will take them to Yreka when she finds hous ing. Mrs. Guy Staiger Is the latest on the list of adults to get the mumps. This epidemic is bound to end before too long for the simple reason that there la a minority of residents re maining which hasn't already had them. Mrs. Shirley Lockwood and her two-year-old son. Richard, arrived in Chiloquin two weeks ago from the middle west and will nuke their home here. Mrs. Lockwood Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Adams and Is now employed at The I Corner store. Stopping briefly In Chiloquin one day this week to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mangum were Rev. and Mrs. R. D. Brokenshire and two ' children of Carlsbad, Calif. ! Mrs. Ruby Carter of Springfield , was graduated on August I from! the Eugene School of Beauty Cul ture and plana to work In the beau ty shop which she haa owned for some time. Mra. Carter, sister of Mrs. Ivan Doak la a former local resident. Mrs. Charles Warren of Redding. Calif., and Mrs. John Bartshe ot Payette. Ida., were guests of Mr. and Mra. Gerry Wolff this week. Mrs. Bartshe, who has apent the summer with her daughter in Red ding, left on Friday morning for her Idaho home. Some 34 young people were on the guest list lor a wienie roast given last Saturday evening by Sharon Zadlna and her cousins. Richard and Donna Clark. The party was given at the Zadtna home in South Chiloquin. Dr. L. S. Cressraan and Dr. Theodore Stern, anthropology pro fessors from the University of Ore gon, left on Thursday morning after completing eight weeks ol summer school work In this vicinity. Cressman had lg students under his direction and Stern headed a small research group of three stu dents. Many local people were seen at the Klamath Falls armory on Wed nesday evening when Woody Her man and his orchestra and the King Cole trio were the entertainers. Susan Ravizza was honored re cently at a birthday picnic given by her mother. Mrs. Harry Kavuxa. Shortly before leaving for Mis souri on a vacation with his parenu.
