The present program expires next Monday. President Truman has asked that it be continued. Under th program, unemployed veterans receive government pay-1 menu of up to 130 a week tor 53 weeks. About 600.000 veterans now j are getting them. I Tha cimmittee s action sends on 1 to the senate a bill which would keep the program In force. Both senst and house must approve it tor th program to continue. Backers of a similar measure In tha house are pessimistic about ex tension of the law.
