Suburban Just received a buildlnc permit for 1750 worth of work In eluding asbestos siding on the St Francis apartments on Oak. Repairs on porches and concrete work are Included In the permit. Walls are covered with tar paper, window frames caulked and the asbestos shake applied. The as bestos needs no palming. Is a pleas ta oyster white In hue and has a rather rough finish. It provides additional Insulation so that home require less heat In cold weather and remain cooler In warm weather than with some other wall finishes. Building In Klamath Down Building activity showed a slow down in the last week when only seven applications were up for coun cil approval Monday night. All were okaved. Fishing Trailers Missing Off Coast ASTORIA. June M " Two fishing trailers, each carrying one man. were missing off the Oregon Washington coast today, and so Intensive air search had failed to spot either one. Coast guardsmen, who carried out the air hunt yesterday, expressed fear that the Rainadene was lost tn storm early this week. The Rainadene was reported missing Tuesday, en route from Wills pa bay to Ewsco. Wash, with Walter Ksn conen, nwaco. aboard. The other missing trailer was the Midnight, which left here June 17 with the intention of returning Sunday or Monday. While there was a possibility the Midnight might have refueled at some small port and gone out again, no record could be found of such stop. The name of the man aboard the Midnight was not available. Air Guardsmen Wind Up Training MOSE3 LAKE, June 24 (v-Pilots and ground crews of the sir national guard's Hh wing will head back to their homes in the four northwestern states today and tomorrow, winding up two weeks of Intensive training In Interception escort, simulated dive-bombing and air-to-ground gunnery. Four days of operation readiness tests ended yesterday for three squadrons the 116th of Spokane, commanded by Lt. Col. Frank Frost; the 186th of Great Falls. Mont., commanded by Lt Col. Floyd M. The 14 farmhouse plans are of modern houses designed to Incor porate sound, up-to-date planning principles, adequate storage areas, and construtcion economy, Camp Cell states. Many of the houses are designed to accommodate the addi tion of more bedrooms at a later date. Design work on all the farm houses was done within the past two years. Campbell slates that of the 14 new houses sdded to the plan serv ice, eight are designed for frame construction, five for concrete ma ronry, and one house is suited to stone, brick or concrete masonry. Seven plans call for one-story homes and seven for two-story construc tion. Any of the plans may be ordered through the local extension office A 35-cent order charge is made at cny time one or more plsns are re quested. In addition, plan sheets cost 3$ cents apiece. Plans for the farmhouses normally consist of four to six Individual sheets or working drawings, Campbell explains. v ! r-?r , ? .M Post Office Building Gets New Roof Job The federal building. Walnut and Seventh streets, is getting ixapped that is, its four fist roof levels are being re-done. Work has been progressing the past week, removing the old roofing and replacing It with new tar and new gravel. This is the first time the building has been re-roofed In nearly 10 years and the present Job Is expected to last another 30. The federal building houses the post office on the main floor with offices on the two upper floors. The county ajrent extension serv ice. Internal revenue and U. S. for est service are on the second floor and soil conservation service, social security, army. navy, farm home rdmlnlstratlon. veterans adminis tration and the FBI have offices on the third floor. USBR Improves Buildings At Municipal Airport Site Judge Tosses Out Farmers' Suit PORTLAND, June 34 P A federal Judge turned down yester day the government's petition to intervene In Oregon farmers' suit sgalnst Reynolds Metals company Judge James A. Fee left the way open, however, for the government to ask to Intervene under differ ent technical procedure. The government had wanted to argue in the ease, on the ground that aluminum is essential to na tional welfare. The farmers seek $1,500,000 damages, contending that fumes from the Troutdale. Ore, plant hsve hurt their crops and livestock. Hugh F. ODonnell. special assist ant to the C. 8. attorney general, told the court yesterday that the fume trouble should be over soon. He asld the government has au thorised spending $3.151 .000 for equipment to control the fumes.
