Percy Murray of Klamath Falls Creamery has been appointed com mittee chairman for June Dairy Month In the Klamath area, an nouncement made by Marvin David ion, state chairman, of Portland, Hates. June has been set aside In a national campaign to promote the (reater use of dairy product for tiealth, economy and eating enjoy ment. The campaign Is sponsored by the government, civic and agri culture officials In tribute to the dairy Industry. Mid-summer Is the time when dairy herds give the richest and (reatest amount of milk, Davidson explains, so It Is fitting to observe June in reminding the public of dairy products and services made available throughout the year by the dairy industries. "Dairy Foods Your Best Buy." is the slogan chosen for the 12th June Dairy Month observance. Everyone is urged to use more dairy products during June for "health, economy and eating enjoyment." Sheriff Issues On Bad Check (Because of the tremendous amount of bad-check pasMiig going on in Klamath Falls, as well as the rest of the country now, Sheriff Lloyd Low has come up with some suggestions to business houses where checks are cashed. Ed. note.l This month my office has re ceived more complaints from mer chants and more warrants for the arrest of parties passing worthless checks than any other time since I have been in office. In order to get better cooperation from the business houses cashing worthless checks, I would make a few suggestions, which. I think, if strictly adhered to would be bene ficial to all. These suggestions are as follows: BEWARE of all counter checks presented that are not made out in your presence, and bearing penciled or Inked numbers. BEWARE of personal checks bear ing notations and addresses not re quested by you. BEWARE of counter checks made out to "Cash." Compare the endorse ment with face of check as to simi larity of signature. Warning Passing Here If check looks Irregular and bears signature of some prominent firm or individual call them on the phone before cashing. Familiarise yourself with Klamath Falls rural routes 1, 3 and 3 and box numbers, questioning giver as to names of near neighbors, location, residence, etc. BEWARE of checks where name and address of bank have been changed, especially on outside banks. If invisible have all checks cleared through one person and get descrip tion, make and license number of giver's car, also, his or her descrip tion. Identification means nothing: the professional will present every thing but his parole papers or past jail record, and don't forget the majority can really put on a good act before presentation of check. They often work In pairs, one will write the check and the other en dorse and pass It. and remember the majority of worthless clunks air passed on Saturday. Sundnvs and legal holidays while banks are closed, which gives the passer plenty of time to make a getaway. I would recommend this slogan be adopted by all merchants cashing i clucks: "If you don't know them dont cash them." If these few rules are strictly adhered to.
