Negotiations were resumed today between the Chrysler corporation and IU striking employes and lead era ol 20 of the nation'! railroad unions called for nationalisation of the carriers. These were the major labor de Telopments by industries: Aulo I nr.vwer corporation and its striking- division or the CIO Vnited Auto Workers arranged to resume negotiations later today. The industry saw a possibility that the Ci-M cost of living formula might be applied to end the strike which Books Given As Memorial MERRILL, May 26 Friends of the late Jean Elliott, young daughter ol Mr. and Mrs. George Elliott who lust her hie last August in a trallic. accident, have contributed a number of volumes ol books to the Merrill library in her memory. Electrical Manufacturing Gen eral Electric and the CIO United Electrical Workers will resum.' negotiations tomorrow after a lapse of three weeks. The union Is asking a "substantial" wage increase o meet the cost of living: the com pany says it is not justified. Maritime There was a possibility that the government may lake Taft Hartley law action to avert an a.l coast tie-up on June 15. Six unions are involved In the dispute. All want wage boosts of unspecified amounts, but the prime issue is the union hir ing hall. This device, which the shipowners say may fall under Taft Hartley closed shop provisions, Is the method by which the unions supply seamen and stevedores. General The National Associa tion of Manufacturers said the Taft Hartley law had improved labor re lations greatly. But it recommended changes to prevent industry-wide strikes. Sustained Yield Plans Discussed PORTLAND, May 26 (JPh- The Oregon-California revested land agency's advisory board conferred here today with Assistant Secretary of Interior C. Girard Davidson on details of a forthcoming policy statement on sustained yield logging agreements involving public land. Davidson is to announce the gov ernment's policy at a hearing in Eugene June 7. At issue is a pro posed agreement with a Marcola, Ore., company. It would permit the firm to cut timber from private and public land for 100 years on a su stained yield basis. Davidson conferred yesterday with. Morton Tompkins, master of the Oregon State grange on de velopment of the extensive South ern Idaho phosphate beds for fertilizer. Two Injured In Liqhr Plane Crash EUGENE, May 26 (Pi Two men were injured yesterday when a light plane crashed two miles south of the municipal airport. John B. AS PURE AS MONEY CAM BUY Missing Boy Found Safe LOS ANGELES. May 26 i Alan D. McCauley. 12, missing from his home three days, was found early Tuesday by police on Hollywood's Vine street. Patrolman Dave Binstein said the boy admitted writing the ransom note which his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John McCauley. found early Satur day. The boy said he had been sleep ing behind billboards and washing at service stations. Alan said he had eaten nothing during his runaway, but officers re ported he ate little of the food they offered him. The ransom note had demanded $1500 and was signed "The Un kowan." Police said the boy. a junior high school student, gave no reason tor his disappearance, which had brought the FBI into the case.
