If we are going to approve the report of the president's so-called civil right commission, then we had just as well Join the communist party and be done with It PEPO Is the chief plank In the communist platform. It is the most dangerous piece of communistic leg islation with which the country has ever been threatened In all Its his tory, says Rep. John Rankin, Missis sippi democrat. In his civil rights message to this congress, the president of the United States lent aid and comfort to the enemies of the American way of life. This Infamous message, with its accompanying preposterous recom mendations, constitutes the most flagrant attack ever perpetrated by any president In the history of our country upon the American consti tution. (Prom the Hon. John Bell Williams, democrat, Mississippi). In the name of the so-called civil rights, these pressure groups seek to destroy the Bill of Rights. They seek to gradually liquidate and totally blot out the great American principle of local self-government. It is a well organized and well di rected conspiracy, not merely against the South but against the people of the entire nation. Wilson, president of the Amer ican Telephone and Telegraph com pany, said Wednesday the system will require large additional amounts of new capital to meet continuing high demand lor serv ice. He told the annual stockholders' meeting the system has already raised nearly J2.000.000.000 of new capital in the past 24 months, but the company must keep on with its heavy construction program. The entire board of directors was re-elected without opposition. Two resolutions fqr more liberal pensions for company employes, of fered by the united telephone or ganizations, were defeated. Educators To Talk Over Problems EUGENE, April 22 (;P Educa tors from Pacific Northwest col leges and universities will gather at the University of Oregon here Fri day and Saturday for the purpose of appraising the national experi ence in general education and to survey and appraise the lntregrated courses taught in the Northwest and throughout the nation. Guest speakers include Dr. Clar ence H. Faust, director of university libraries at Stanford; Dr. John H. Randall Jr., professor of philosophy at Columbia university (but now at Washington); Dr. O. Meredith Wilson, dean of the college of arts and science at the University of Utah; Dr. R. F. Arragon, depart ment of history at Reed college, and Dr. A. At best the books circulation likely will be limited to Japanese and a few occidentals interested in sea slugs, which at best are wormy whether eaten or viewed in illustrations.
