This brines the latwt world and mrtanal news Into Lakeview, -beatin" by many hour any other daily newspaper. To accomplish this. It was nece&sary for The Herald and News to step up its edition times. Heretofore, we have published a tirst edition at 3 p m. daily. But It Is now neoesjary to "to to press" with an edition at 12 noon, in order to have It out and ready tor the truck which leaves here EPLET 'or Lakeview ai 1 p. m Anyone familiar with newspaper offices knows thit it U quit an ordeal to push press I" me ahead two hours right In Uie middle of lha day. WE have been lucky so far. and haven t even had clot call at musing Uie Arrow Transit truck which Is walling every day at 1 p m. at Uie back of the newspaper plant, ready to lake off with the Lakeview edition. This operation has now been going a week, and the response in Lakeview has been most gratifying. The purpose of thu piece is to explain what la going on. and to assure Lakeview readers that we are working hard to improve the edition which they receive. We are not only determined to catch lhat truck at leaving time every day. but to make the paper we catch it with the best possible'iiewspaper we cn get out by the noon deadline THE HERALD AND NEWS has long enjoyed ex cellent readership In Lakeview and we have many friends there. Furthermore, there Is a com munity of Interest between Klamath Falls and Lake view thai make a great deal of the news of signifi cance In both places. ' There is no thought on our part of replacing the Lakeview Examiner In any way. We cannot fill the niche of the excellent hometown paper published by Glenn Charles and edited by Les Shaw. The Ex aminer and The Herald and News have always operated on a basis of friendly cooperation And. as Lea said in his column last week about Lake-Klamath cooperation, "may It continue forever." The amount of pain produced by neuritis Is variable In some per aons pain can be practically in tolerable and in others, especially those who are in vigorous health. It can be borne without great diffi culty. Cause of neuritis, like its symp toms, is not alike in all cases. Con sequently, It is necessary to try to find out the cause in each case. When caused by diabetes, for ex ample, the proper line of attack is to control the diabetes by a suitable diet and insulin If necessary. CAUSES OF NECRITIS Shingles can produce neuritis. In this disease a virus U probably at fault. The nerve itself la apparently affected and the pain Is often ex tremely severe and may last for a long time, especially In elderly peo ple. Severe anemia can produce neuritis. Chemical substances, such u arsenic, and many Industrial products may produce neuritis. In fections and diseases can also cause nerve pains. Nerve pains can come from vita min deficiency, especially the lack of vitamin B. One type of neuritis fe common among the victims of chronic alcoholism. Perhaps at least part of the reason for this is that such persons substitute alcohol as a food in place of a properly balanced 1t rrnitatnin? (enmiffh vitamin B. Oregon Higher Education Kvtem Soon after the clear twilight of late April has faded into night, there comes to us from low over the northeastern horizon the steely rays of a brilliant blue-white star. This glittering object Immediately at tracts our attention, for it far out shines any other star in that re gion of the heavens. Besides. It Is usually twlnkl'ng energetically due to the atmospheric disturbance al wavs present near the skyline. This is Vega, the star with the Arabic name. This is said originally to have ben "al-Waqul." which gradually changed to Wega and Vega, ft Is the second In brightness of any star 'planets are not stars) seen from our part of the world. Vega Is one of the nearer stars Its distance Is 21 light-years, or anoroxtmatelv 27 times six trillion ml'es from us. Were Vega as close to us as our sun. Its brlWanre would annear about 50 times that of old Fol It heat end llnht would be unbearab'e. Like many another source of radiant energy. It Is best adm'red at a distance. Due to the precession of the eou'noxes. Veea In about 120O0 ears hence will be our north star. What a snlendld guide star It will make, although It will not be quite as close to the pole of the sky as our present Polaris. The latter Is now nearly one deree from the pole. By A D. 2100 It will be within one-half decree (the angular width of the moon) of this location. It will then semlnglv move farther from It for thousands of years. As Vega circles higher In the sky and gets more nearly due east, sev eral dim stars will be seen cluster ing close to It. Vega and these lit t'- stars outline the Harp of Or pheus, th irrent musician of clas sical mythology.
