Lundeen is now im ployed in Washington. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. McCrackeu of Klamath Falls visited in Chilo quin on Sunday with Mrs. Dora Olenger. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Albert returned on Friday night from a two-work vacation spent in Uie lower WII ! lamette valley visiting relatives, j Paula Albert and Fred Fletcher I spent Sunday visiting her parents. ; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Albert on Sun ! day. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren re ' turned Monday night from a 15-day I trip to Nevada, Idaho and North- eastern Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Warner Blake and ' daughters Christie and Jean Marie have moved from Eugene to El Paso, i Tex. They left Oregon the last week In January. Blake is a Chiloquin high . school graduate and the son of ; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hamilton of ' Gilchrist. 1 Justine Buckskin entertained five i of her sixth grade friends at a party on St. Valentine's Day. which i also marked her 13th birthday. Guests were Gloria Ochoa. Louise and Mary Ferris. Freida Kirk and Karleen Parazoo. Mr. and Mrs. John Vaughn of Anderson. Calif, are local visitors this week. Father Michael Ahearne. rector of Our Lady of ML Cannel Catholic church in Chiloquin for the past few years, was this week transferred to the parish at Fedmond. Ore. The news was received on Saturday afternoon, shortly after the death of Father O Donovan of Redmond, whose place Father will take. Rev. Ahearne conducted his last regular mass service at the local church on Sunday and moved north on Monday. His place will be filled by Father Phelan of Klamath Falls. Harry Pearson returned last week from a month spent in Astoria and on the Oregon coast. Freida Kirk was guest of honor at a 12th birthday party given for her oy her mother, Mrs. Freidman Kirk, on Sunday afternoon, Feb. IS. The afternoon was spent in playing games, followed by refresh ments and gift opening. Attending were Peggy Henthonie, Justine j Buckskin, Marileen Gnf fin, Louisa Esqueda, Cherrie Balrd, Marjone , Reed. Gloria Ochoa, Merry Hayes ' and Karleen Parazoo. ! Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rarizza made a recent hurried trip to San Fran ; Cisco, having been called south by j the illness of Ravizza's father. The most entertaining basketball game of the season was played on the local gymnasium floor Tuesday night by the Harlem Legionnaires. ; a traveling professional negro team, ' and the Gienger quintet. Scoring I was of minor importance in the game and comedy ruled supreme, i The six-foot plus visitors had an ability which won the admiration : of the capacity crowd and a slap j stick routine which , brought gales of j laughter. Rules went by the way ! side as the invaders rolled, bounced . or Juggled the ball down the floor. ; Shots were made from the oppon- em's court, on bounced balls, by ' clever backstop handling, and even in tandem fashion as players rode piggy-bade The local boys proved beyond a doubt that they could take it when the ball bounced off their heads, ' they were fooled on fake passes and : even when hoisted to basket height to assure points for the town team. Continuing north, the j Giengers spent two days in Portland, ! backtracked through Eugene on ! Tuesday and drove south to spend I the night with relatives in Med i ford. Wednesday Gienger attended i a special cattle tale in Phoenix be- fore returning to Chiloquin. ! Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wolff, Dean ; Greear and Gerry Wolff spent I Wednesday in Phoenix and in Med i ford, visiting with relatives and at tending a Hereford sale. And then, of course, there's the ! one about the young boys who took I empty soft drink bottles from cases : behind a store, brought them around ! and sold them to the clerks. Last Saturday, wasn't it? Edouard Priaulx returned the mid dle of the week from a business trip to Portland. Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Grimes and daughters are spending this week in i Eugene attending a church confer ence. A driver for Savage's logging workers, at present working on Sprague River holdings some u miles from Chiloquin. wrecked his logging truck on its initial run through town last Friday morning Rounding the Shell service station corner, the bunks of the truck locked and the vehicle, which was traveling on icy pavement, skidded Into a tele phone pole. A fender was ripped from the truck, the radiator pierced and the axle bent. A heavy duty wrecker was tummoned from Klam ath Falls. The load of logs had to be dumped before the truck could be moved. Feb. 33 A battle which has been going on for tome lime between the board of super- ' visors and the townspeople on se lecting a sue iur uie proposen new hospital has finally ended with the townspeople the winners. It is said one member of the board who had held out for a site in the business center of the city was drawn over the coals by the chamber of commerce committee and he stated he still thought his selection was the best but would have to bow to the will of the majority. The site selected Is located tn th northwest end of the city and com prises 40 acres. The estimated cost of the building is $864,240. one-third to be paid by the county, one-third by the state, and the other third by the federal government. March 10 is the dead-line for making application to the state board for the funds. As this county stands among the first three in the state mostly in need of hosDltal facilities, it is thought the allocation ! will be granted. i Langell Valley I The House brothers quartet sang I over radio station KFJI several I times recently. They sang Thurs , day night at the republican Lin , coin's Day banquet at the Willard ! hotel. The bovs sang "Tumbling Tumbleweed" and "Way Down Hnme." Mr. and Mrs. Lester Leavitt re- ceived word hat their son. Cal. seaman second class, USN, has been transferred from San Diego to Jacksonville. Fla., to attend ma chinists schooL Mr. and Mrs. Lester Jones spent Thursday night in Klamath Falls j with their son Ray. and family. Mrs. Clay walker and Ernest spent Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burnett and Ml. and Mrs. Les Leavitt visited with Mrs. Viola Dearborn of Klam ath Falls on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Do Bel gave a dancing party at the community hall on Saturday evening. A large ciowd of friends attended. Refresh ments were served at midnight. Congratulations and best wishes are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Art Monroe who were married Febru ary 14. Mrs. Monroe was Lois Null before her marriage. Poe Valley Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Tucker are building some additional rooms on taeir house. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Weber. Helen and Leland. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Folihouser and Charlie Riffe were dinner guests of Mrs. Holzhouser Sunday. Several people attended the PTA dance held at Henley Saturday night. After the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Holzhouser invited a few friends to their home for refresh menu. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Reiling and sons have returned home from a vacation spent at Harbor and Port land. Their trip was saddened by the death of George Anderson. grandfather of Wilbur and Oeorpe Reiling. Wilbert Anderson is a bi other of George Anderson. Dwayne Kester Is home from Hillside hospital after receiving treatment for pneumonia. Mrs. Kester is improving from a bad ca.e of flu. Emil Wells and Clarence Weber had their cattle vaccinated this week. Junior Kester has returned home from Bakersfield. Calif. Mt. LakF Mrs. Burton Dawson underwent an appendectomy at a Klamath Falls hospital last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Thompson returned from San Francisco, Calif., Sunday night, where Mrs. Thompson underwent surgery at Franklin hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hill and sons. Richard and Robert, left Wednes day night for Mt. Hood where they will meet Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stone and enjoy skiing Mr. and Mrs. Gray Brannon and d.-.ughters.
