General Electric, Chesapeake & Ohio, Nickel Plate preferred (on hopes a possible merger with Wheeling & Lake Erie would elimi nate sizable dividend accumula tions), Standard Oil (N. J.), Ameri can Sugar, National Container and Exchange Buffet, Laggards included Bethlehem, Youngstown Sheet, U. S. Rubber, Montgomery Ward, American Tele phone, American Water Works, Ou Pont, American Can, Allied Chemi cal, American Smelting, U. S. O.vp sum. Johns-Manville, Texas Co., Southern Pacific, Nickel Plat com mon, Frisco Railroad common, Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century-Fox and Coca-Cola, Bonds moved over a slim course. Cotton, toward the finish, was off 85 cents to up 6 cents a bale.
