original and unique styling of design, decor, and name.
The architectural motif gives the feeling of space and elegance and at the same time
on atmosphere of intimacy and romance, with brilliant colors used throughout the room
to emphasize these qualities with a subtle force. The name Tocatee Terrace was chosen
for its depth of meaning and its connection with the early tradition of the Klamath
Modoc country. The word TOCATEE isHcombined from four Indian words, TOK, TOKE,
TU KATEE, which mean, broadly interpreted, a meeting place for dining and danc
ing, and friendly talk by the river, waterfalls, lakes and mountain country.
From the time you enter the foyer where the beautiful reflection pool picks up from
walls aijd ceiling the swirling colors of the decor until you enter the main room
where your eye is caught by the huge mural along the southern wall you will be de
lighted by the manner in which the architect and the artist have caught the mood ,
of this country. The rich ond gleaming colors of the room catch the same brilliancy
and splendor as that seen throughout the whole mognif icent Cascade Wonderland.
The Tocatee mural depicts the sparkling hues of the Oregon-California country in an
arabesque of pattern symbolizing the mountains and lava cliffs with mauve and
purple, rose and tan, the verdure with its yellow and chartreuse, gold and blue-green,
the turquoise waterfall and the azure sky where all the colors of the rainbow glisten
in reflection.
