Street Named As Delegate TULELAKE, May S-H. T. Street, treasurer of the Tulelake Rotary club, hita been elected delenat to Rotary International convening In Ban Francisco June 8-13. The an nouncement followed a meeting of the board of director of the club which wa In session after Wednes day' luncheon meeting at the Sportsman's hotel. The club will present an honorary membership each year to the pres ident of the high school student body, this student to be eligible to attend all meetings. Herbert Klrby Is president this year and will at tend his first meeting next week. 8lx high school students. Spud Shipment Tops Last Year Potato shipments for this season are still ahead of shipment dur ing the 1945-6 season, but only by seven carloads, according to USDA figures. To date, there have been 10.644 carloads of tube.-s shipped from the basin in' the HM6-7 sea son, as compared with 10,637 for last season. Spud Inspector Ross Aubrey said today that it looks like a nip and tuck race whether shipments this season will continue to top last sea son's shipments at the end of the shipping year. There are still 72 carloads listed as going out last year between May 6 and June 3. Aubrey said that there are about ISO carloads of spuds left In the basin, but he doubted that any large percentage would be shipped due to their poor quality. Merrill House Damaged By Fire MERRILL, May 6 A two-story frame house on Lost river, one of the landmarks ol Merrill, was par tially destroyed by lire, early this morning. . '-" The residence was occupied by Frank and Bill Miller, brothers, who work as carpenter-contractors In Merrill. All their furniture was saved and they said that the build ing was about a 50 per cent loss. There was some insurance coverage. The Merrill lire department tought the blaze lor two hours after It was discovered at 6:30 a. m.
